Stayed one night. Location is average with Sogo nearby. 20-25 minutes walking to the busy Chin Meng 1st and 2nd Street which are filled with restaurants/eateries and stylish shops. Room size is adequate. However, TV has only 5 local Chinese channels although most hotels in Taiwan (from one star to five stars) provide over 30 channels. Breakfast is very average.
Will definitely try other hotels next time in Taichung .

The Splendor is undergoing a renovation so I stayed in the adjoining "business hotel." The room was large and clean although I would characterize the decor as "college dorm." The free breakfast buffet was disgusting. The elevators are completely inadequate for the number of rooms and guests so expect long waits in the moring. For $99 I can't really compalin, but I would hope that there are better lodging options in Taichung. I would be interested in tryng the main Splendor Hotel once it re-opens.

Our tour agency arrange this room for us - for quarterly sharing, we had 4 queen beds! Its the biggest room in our whole trip!
We stayed at high floor and get nice view of surrounding, including Sogo. My husband went to shop at Sogo (5min via underpass) and it has total eighteen floors of shopping with Sogo being main tenant , there's also Kinokuniya bookshop. There's a 7-11 opposite the hotel, nearby have Vietnam restaurant.
Breakfast have wide selection but is crowded at peak time.

Splendor in Taichung Taiwan is centrally located - across the street from Sogo shopping center and a short walk to the Science museum. Getting here from Taoyuan, Taipei airport is easy - there are direct buses (U-Bus and others) that one can catch right outside the airport and it takes about 2 hours to get here. The hotel is currently undergoing some exterior renovations but the interior is fairly comfortable. Most rooms come with breakfast and its a huge buffet selection. The hotel also offer free bicycles to take a spin around town - many hotels in Taiwan offer this service. The gym is basic but has all the essential equipment. The pool and sauna room are also average but clean. If you're staying longer pick the serviced apartments type rooms in one wing of the hotel which gives a better price deal. It also offers a business center which has a coin operated laundromat and coffee machine.
