We booked into Goldi Sands due to its proximity to the airport, and a 2.30am arrival. The room was a decent size, and furnished to the standard expected of the hotels' 3 star rating. The room was clean and comfortable, and having a particularly long balcony put us on the fringe of the beach with lovely views of palm trees and sea. Although offering a limited range of buffet food, meals were satisfying and tasty, with cabaret type entertainment provided by local artistes during the evening. We had opted for an all-inclusive package during our 3 night stay, and provided good value, although there are some strange anomalies with beverage options - diet Coke, coffee (outside of meal times), bottled beer and wine are not available as all-inclusive for some reason, and must be paid for separately. This aside, our stay was very enjoyable, with friendly staff going out of their way to look after us. Negombo beach is a decent beach, with a warm if turbulent sea to swim in, and the bustling town is worth a visit. Further afield, taking the train from Negombo to Colombo is incredibly cheap at just 40 rupees, and is a much more enjoyable and cheaper option to hiring a taxi. Goldi Sands is in a convenient location and offers really good value, well worth considering.
Room Tip: Rooms 113, 114 & 115 have especially long balconies to get the closest views of the beach
