The Sunflower Beach is a friendly hotel, its inexpensive the food is excelent and if you have children you can see them in the pool from all the rooms.
Every day your room is cleaned and the sheets arranged in the most elaborate way with fresh flower petals, a nice touch.
The staff will all take the time to chat and make you feel at home rather than at your beckoned call.

Stayed there for two weeks half board March 2004. Hotel in need of updating, but adequate for the price paid and the staff were very nice with great sense of humour. Negombo town is very dirty, as is the beach. There are fishermens' shacks just down the beach and lots of stray dogs and cats. Accommodation and food is so cheap all over the island, that taking trips elsewhere & staying away from 'home' for a few nights is commonplace. We did one tour with our tour rep company and another with a local taxi driver (Shanta) - the local tour was far better value.
It would have been very boring to stay there without these trips for the full two weeks .
Although the food (always buffet style) was edible and I didnt come accross anyone who'd got sick from it we did eat elsewhere on occasion,and can recommend Browns hotel just up the beach.
