“Terrific Hotel with fantastic view of beach and ocean”

We went to Club Dolphin on February 12th 2011 for 14 nights. We stayed in one of the villas that had a view of the beach and the ocean. Very spacious inside and very big bathroom and huge shower cubicle. The room was very clean with clean towels every day and 2 free bottles of water every day. If you had a problem with anything it was sorted out very quickly. House boys were excellent and very friendly. The food was excellent and the service was very good in the restaurant as well. We would recommend Dolphin Taxi's and the guys name was David if you want to take any trips. He is not connected to the hotel but just sits outside the gates. I can recommend the jewellers in the hotel and you get a certificate with anything that you buy. We would certainly go back again.

“Good stopover hotel before the tour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2011

We selected this hotel as our base for day 1, as it was close to the airport and the flight arrived at 4 in the morning, before going north to explore the island for two weeks. I have read some very mixed reviews about the place, but for us it fulfilled the need very well and very honestly - one of those places where it does exactly what it says on the tin! It has an amazing big pool and there is a permanent buzz of activity all day with a lot of organised activity for families. The pool bar music pounds your eardrums a bit and the staff were very good. The food was great - what are they all complaining about - and is presented as a well organised and varied buffet. Rooms were fine and beds comfortable, although check in and check out are ridiculously slow (but hey, it's Sri Lanka). It is a thumping great resort and if you have children and want something all inclusive and active this is the place for you. On the downside, the beach was pretty much out of bounds and the location was off the beaten track if you wanted a stroll to the shops. If you came here you would be the type who is happy to remain in campus and then organise your sightseeing through the front desk. Room tip - make sure your room is not too close to the pool as it is noisy and get a first floor one.

“A great place to stay and I like the staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2010

this was our second stay here, there have ben a few improvements since our last visit, the resturant is a lot better, cleaner and more upto date
The rooms have been updated (well the bath has gone and new walk in showers installed, which arte a great improvement
The rooms have had a lick of paint, and are still roomy and spacious, but still have no draw space for underwear and such
The staff are still the same, helpful and friendly, with lots of smiles, even more now with the new management structure (any complaints, they lose their job)
The entire complex has had a face change, new shops (well there will be when they are finished)
It all looks very bright and airy now, the new bar looks very good, and some great sunsets from here
We were supposed to get a special meal for a return visit, but along the line there was a screw up, so that never happened
The security was updated while we were there, boith the army and police wew patroling the beach (due to an incident on the beach) but even so, , the beach outrside the hotel is the only one worth visiting, even though the sea was a bit rough
As last year, there are 2 pools, the quiet pool and the other pool, ideal for kids of all ages, tea and coffee and snacks are served here, if you dont fancy a full lunch
Others have mentiond the beach boys who tout for work, I will say that if you do use them, you will have a guide and a driver, and you will be paying for both (the driver dont usually talk English, but the guide does, and you wont have the beach boy who sold you the trip) I will recommend Emmanual tours though, as I have used him before and he never over charged us and with our trips we wqere thew only people, there were no over crowded bus, but its your money use who you want, just be aware that you get what you pay for
While I was there I did find out a lot more that goes on with the beach boys (If you want to know more, a PM will be fine)
I will be going again next year, it really is a great place with great staff
Just like to thank the animation staff, but try and gear it to English instead of all German, please
The grounds are very well maintained, the bar staff are verey good and very attentive,
The house cleaning staff are pretty good (but take pot luck what time your room will be done)
