We stayed in Galle for a 6-week medical elective at Karapitya hospital. Beach Haven really was the perfect place to stay, as the owners had a lot of experience of previous medical students so were extremely helpful in arranging tuk tuks to the hospital every morning, and made us feel very welcome and at home which is important when staying somewhere for such a long time. The owners and their lovely children are very friendly and accommodating, the rooms are spacious and clean and Mrs Wijenayake's food is outstanding- the best we tried in Sri Lanka. They were also very helpful in providing us with good advice and information about getting around the country and places to go and visit. Beach Haven's location is ideal, as it is inside the beautiful Dutch fort that is full of character, with beautiful views over the fort walls and is full of relaxing cafes and delicious restaurants. It is only a short walk away from the main bus station, 10 minutes from the beautiful Unawatuna beach in a tuk tuk and 20 minutes from the hospital. Beach Haven is fantastic value for money and staying here with such a friendly family really enhanced our whole experience.

Beach Haven is the perfect place to stay when in Galle. The rooms are comfortable, a good size and all have fans or A/C. There is also free WIFI, satellite tele and a nice terrace to sit out on and read etc. The family who run the accomodation are lovely, very welcoming and speak excellent English. A huge and tasty breakfast is available and comes highly recommended. Further you can also get your laundry done here at a very good rate.

The accomodation is located in a nice area of the fort and allows you to go shopping, walking, restaurants etc with ease. The whole area is pictureque and provides relief from any of the stresses in the new town. Further it is within a short tuk tuk ride of Unawatuna (great beach) and short bus rides of other beaches (Mirissa etc). Now that the Galle railway is back up and running and with the new motorway built it is perfectly situated for visiting the rest of Sri Lanka.

We stayed here for 6 weeks during our medical elective and loved every minute of it. The family seem to always get lots of medical students and are geared up for having you. They even provided us with a tuk tuuk every morning to take us to hospital for a very cheap rate.

Beach Haven is in an excellent position within Galle Fort. It has everything one needs: good rooms, bathroom, choice of fan or aircon and an excellent breakfast, all at more than affordable prices. However, its greatest selling point is the family headed by the matriarch Sita and supported by her daughter and son in law. They provided a mine of information on the locality and gave some much needed advice to us and other guests who had problems while we were there.

My friend and I origianally stayed at a different guest house and had a terrible room, the next morning we came to The Beach Haven which had a room free, it was a million times better. We felt very well looked after and felt we could ask the family anything and they would try their best to help. We loved our stay and this accomodation made us feel at home.
