This is a colonial style building with wooden floors and beds. Don't listen to the Lonely Planet - the genial manager, Sabri, didn't mind when we came home at 4am in the morning on New Year's Eve (2010). We missed breakfast the next day,  but he whisked up a tasty brunch for us at 3pm. The location of the Guest House is great, just a stone's throw from a number of five star hotels. Of course, this isn't a 5 star hotel so you need to lower your expectations accordingly. However, this is a charming guest house in a great location which is excellent value for money.

Home from home - very friendly staff, excellent breakfast, clean and large room, comfortable bed, quiet, good position in Galle near the outer sea wall. Mrs Khalid's son kindly allowed us to use his computer and internet connection whenever required.

We also employed the driver to take us back to the airport - well worth while, quick,cheap. safe and comfortable.

I've stayed at Mrs. Khalid's five or six different times in the past two years. I've stayed there alone, I've stayed there with spouse and teenagers. It's perfect: clean, bright, quiet, easy. Meals are fun and delicious. I've met many fellow guests there who are also really delightful people. Mrs. Khalid is a sweetheart, her son is very pleasant and helpful. The location is excellent, in sight of the fort walls. Very restful, secure place.

One of the highlights in our holiday. lovely sea view rooms with balcony, good and clean hot water bathrooms, spotlessly clean and the tasteful Mrs.Khalid's residence is all ways kept immaculate. we stayed here four nights though most of the days were raining we never felt bored. the sea view balcony was great asset while we spent most of the rain flatted days by just lazing on this wonderful balcony, reading all day with plenty of teal/coffee and tasty home cooking. Khalid's is different from a normal guest house in sri lanka. its special and highly respected among the local community in Galle for its long standing reputation and being a institution in Galle. indeed this is an icon of Galle.
