Stayed for two weeks in January when we wanted some peace and quiet from a very busy home-based business. The view from room 3 is amazing, stretching over the marshland; felt as if we were living in the treetops. It is away from the main tourist area but a lovely 10-15 minute walk to the gorgeous beach. Perfect hosts and staff, so helpful. Currently planning a trip for next year to include some time at Shangri Lanka; see you all then I hope!

This guest house deserves its number 1 rating. Rooms are immaculate, staff and owners delightful, everything is good. Ideal for a couple or small group just to chill.

Karen and Rohan organised a fantastic holiday for us. We are a group of 3 well travelled married couples in our sixties visiting Sri Lanka for the first time.
We were met at the airport by Rohan who was our guide on a ten day tour which covered the major sites in the country and gave us a great understanding of the history of the country. Rohan was an encyclopedia of information. He was able to answer all but one of our questions about the vegetation, wildlife, history and way of life for the people. He stopped frequently for the enthusiastic photographer of our party (who took over 2000 photos) and was accommodating for our every request. Travelling as a small group we also had fun. All the 5 hotels we stayed in were of a good standard, and varied in character. We all agreed it was the best tour we had experienced. I would be happy to supply details via email.
The tour was followed by six nights at Shangri Lanka, Karen and Rohan's Villa. I can only echo the previous comments. Superb accommodation, personal service, great food and beautiful surroundings in which to relax.
Our expectations were high but they were exceeded.

We recently sent an enquiry to Shangri-Lanka and were unfortunately told that they were fully booked (book a few months in advance!!!). However, Karen was so incredibly helpful in suggesting other options and providing advice on the local and wider area that I felt I just had to submit this review. We have travelled all over the world and I have to say I have never come across a hotel or guest house proprietor who was willing to spend so much time giving free (and incredibly useful!) advice to a non-customer. It is no wonder this guest house gets such amazing reviews with an owner like Karen. Shangri-Lanka is certainly on the top of our "must do" list next time we are in Sri Lanka!
