We stayed at Amal Villa as the starting point for our honeymoon.

We had mentioned that we were on honeymoon, but had not requested anything extra other than their nicest room if there was one. But when we arrived, we were greeted with complimentary fruit juice cocktails, flower necklaces and they had made the bed into a work of art with various flowers and interesting sheet folding. The room we got was great, with its view into the jungle and private balcony where we had breakfast each morning - fresh local tasty fruit. At the time we were there the pool was nearly finished but it was working and made a great addition to the stay.

The seaside location is great, although care is needed in crossing the road from the guesthouse to the private beach. The food at the restaurant is brilliant, fresh and reasonably priced.

The staff we very friendly and helpful. We also arranged a couple of tours through the hotel. There was some desire to send us off to see the elephant orphanage which we didn't want to do, but after some persistance we managed to sort out a taxi to the jungle (jungle trip recommended).

Very good value for money - highly recommend trying here if you want to avoid the high priced western hotel chains but want some luxury and good local hospitality.

We stayed at Amal for part of our honeymoon in September 2011. I can't think of anywhere better to have started our journey.

The villa's are just great, very clean, nicely decorated and comfortable.

The pool is fabulous, overlooking a forested area one side and plantations the other. There are excellent sunbeds too.

Breakfast is severd whenever you get up on your balcony and was great. The food across the road in the restaurant is also very good. I'm vegetarian and every care was taken to ensure that there was great food for me. From the restaurant you can see the ocean which was great. You can also get food and drinks at their beach bar area too.

Amal and Andrea (owners) were very welcoming and friendly, as were all staff that worked there. You really couldn't find a more relaxing, welcoming and pretty place to stay in. Its also good value for money.

Amal will sort out visiting local attractions too and there are always a few rickshaws around to take you off into town or elsewhere.

This place really was the highlight of our holiday and i wish we could have stayed longer.

We stayed here over New Year, arriving straight from the hectic airport and walked into a tranquil garden, The owner even gave us his own room for one night as he was fully booked and then transferred us to our own guest suite. Rooms are to a very high standard, the infinity pool and breakfast were very special.
A short walk across the road takes you to an amazing beach, where guests can be served refreshments on the beach or in the hotel owned beach restaurant. The food was good, well priced and we were made to feel very special by the owner and his staff. One of the nicest places we stayed on the island

We went to Amal Villa after finding all other restaurants closed due to the SL New Year. It was a great experience. Right from the tanks with live Lobsters and crabs to the large sea facing restaurant area - it was a perfect setting.
The cooking was also great, everything - pasta, grilled prawns, vegetarian curry, crabs etc. was cooked fresh and to perfection. The food was tempered as requested by us.
