Well, If you want a cheap nasty old room, this will do. It was by far the absolute sorst hotel I ever paid money for. Putting aside the rank moldy rotten fish smell, the rooms were just unkept.
The rooms are cleaned once a week by the staff, however if you would like, for an extra $10 per request you can have your room cleaned. But, even then the house keeper does a half [--] job. If you would like clean towels and sheets only, it's just an extra $5. When the house keeper did actually clean my room, she picked up the dirty towels, you get 2 for a week, and refolded them and hung them up. I know this ecause the one i used to shave had the blood from cutting my chin when I shaved.
My bed was remade with the old sheets on. This was obvious by the lack of folding creases and wrincles on the side I sleep on. The other side was still smooth.
Also, NO shampoo or conditioner. It has a coffee pot, but you have to buy the coffee from the vending machine. When I asked the desk for coffee they said they couldn/t hand it out.
You do get 2 plates, cups, and pair of silverware. They need washed before use beccause it looked like they were just put back in the cabinets. Maybee the lack of soap was the problem.
I was not able to get my internet to work and I called the front desk for the password. The lady there had to call a guest staying there and ask him to call. He was there for 2 weeks and had calls every night from the desk asking him to help other guests log on.
I would like to say something good about the place. It was across from the College camups. So at least across the street was clean civilization.

One of the most horrendous places that I ever been Internet slow almost comparable to "Dial-Up" when it was working, Fire Alarms in a wekly basis at 4:00 am "Technical Problems" with the Fire Panel that never got resolved in the Six week period that I stayed there. Whatelse room service once a week and when they come is like they only change the sheets and provide towels other than that ?????????????? who knows. In conclusion a fair review for this place would be -5.

I stayed at this location for about 2.5 yrs while working on contract in Albany. I am a business prefessional and needed a place that I was able to have temporary accommodations, emmenities of an apartment with out a years lease since I was on a temporary assignment. No one in the area would do short leases for business people. This place left a lot to be desired on pretty much every stay. The housekeeping was the worst. Regularly on my scheduled cleaning day I would return from the client site to find my room was only cleaned half way or not at all. The houskeeping would leave me nasty notes telling me to empty my own trash in the trash room. Isn't that what they get paid for? It's not like I put anything out of the ordinary in the trash. When I complained to the Mgr, he told me that the trash rooms are provided for the customers to empty their own trash. I told him if I had the time to take out the trash I would of rented an apt. The check-in staff are great for the most part. They usually are very attentive and will do whatever they can to make you happy. Too bad the Mgr and Housekeeping don't have the same attitude. I guess they don't really care since they tend to fill up most of the time from customer's going across the road to Albany University. That I am guessing is the other reason they can charge such high nightly rates for such bad service and a less then mediocre accommodations. Too bad they particular location does get that business customers are the best ones to attract. They create the least amount of problems and damage.

Last minute overnight stay so I booked ESA. The other hotels in the area were over $150 compared to $69 ESA ($79 minus $10 promo discount if you signed up for newsletter). I did read all the input here and was hoping for the best since the other hotels were out of my budget.
Check in was smooth and the gentleman assured me my discount was applied. When I arrived in my room(172) I went right to the bed. After taking off my bedspread, the pillows cases were so wrinkeled and appeared dirty. The sheets were as well.The sheets looked liked they never changed them from the last guest. I was aware of all the past comments and brought my own sheets with me. I used them and my own pillows.
Now for the best (yes you guys I should have listened to you)was the bathroom. Housekeeping at this hotel must be retrained.Right on the toilet seat waiting for me was a small black hair.Other hairs were also found when I used my foot and put up the toilet seat. The tub was just as bad. There were black hairs on the inside and around the tub. There is no way you can tell me housekeeping cleaned in there. I came armed with lysol and lysol wipes and used them.I went next door to a friends room in the Marriott and used their shower. The kitchen area I did not touch or use but no visible dirt that I could see. The carpet is dartk green pattern but I would not walk barefoot after seeing the bathroom.
Check out was smooth and the 2nd gentleman told me that he had to refund me $10 since the promo cerfiticate was not deducted. Then came orignal ck in agent who said it was. The problem I had was my final bill was not itemized. It did not list my nightly rate and taxes, it just had $91.19. I questioned again the $22.19 taxes as being quite high but #1 told me it was correct. Upon returning home I have to go back to Albany again and I know in advance this time.I went to Marriott website and booked my reservation. Funny thing that the coporate rate is $79 and with tax my bill will be $91.19. This convinced me I was right about the price at ESA not applying the $10 discount. I have sent a complaint to their coporate offices already .
I would not stay here again due to the funny business with my bill, especailly since I paid cash and the dirty room.
Price was an issue for me and I was so uncomfortable staying here. I already reserved another hotel since my plans will bring me to Albany at least 4 more times this year. Can't wait until the Hilton Garden Inn opens next door.
I have been to 1 and 2 star hotels in other countries as well as the US but this was the dirtiest.
