This is my 2nd visit to Albany Marriot on business. The service, comfort levels were as expected. Rooms were clean and I had a good sleep in the hotel.
The hotel is well located near a shopping mall (although the mall is not very big). There is not much to do in albany and i spent most of my weekends outside the city.

My mother stayed at the Albany Marriott on October 19 and 20 of this year for her nursing instructors conference. Since the conference is held at the hotel, she stays there to network with other colleagues who attend the meeting.

On the first night of her stay, she found a cockroach in the bathroom. Since she only saw one, she did not report it. However, on the second night of her stay, she found three more cockroaches in the bathroom. She contacted the front desk, and a member of the staff came up and took a picture of the bugs. At that moment, my mother was only offered a cup of coffee for her inconvenience.

When she returned, she asked me to intervene since I travel more frequently and because I am a Marriott Gold Reward member. I contacted Marriott customer service, and it forwarded my complaint to the hotel management. I received an email on 11/10/11 from Mike Rosenberg, the Front Office Manager. He offered my mother 5,000 Marriott points. However, she does not have a Marriott Rewards account and does not want to open an account because she travels infrequently. Further, as a Marriott Rewards member, I know that 5,000 points is equivalent to half the points needed at a Category 5 hotel.

When I contacted Mr. Rosenberg on 11/11/11 and explained the situation, he amended his offer to a complimentary night at Albany Marriott. If my mother had a bad experience AND she only stays there because of the conference, why should she stay there for a leisure trip? Similar to Hampton Inn, I asked if he could provide a voucher good at another comparable Marriott property, and he stated that he could not do such.

As a loyal Marriott customer, I am disappointed in how the management of the Albany Marriott had treated her. She has contacted her organization to express her displeasure with the hotel, as they hold two conference annually at this location. I am going to continue to intervene with Marriott on her behalf, and hopefully, she can get a better resolution to this issue.

I stayed there Sat-Tues and was treated like a king. Service from the moment I entered the hotel was first class, it really was good and they bent over backwards for me (thanks Scott). Room was good enough, generic Marriott style. Good clean working room with decent internet (charged) and good AC/heater - it was cold out..

Room service was excellent, quality of food in bar and via room service was very good indeed. The Filet steak was as good as you will get in any top rated restaurant.

They lose a point for having a hotel full of noisy kids Sat night that woke me up with their music. Hard for the hotel to control I appreciate but better walls might have helped.

Never been to Albany before, can't compare with other hotels but would happily go back to this one.

The hotel was clean and conveniently located near the Albany airport. The front desk was friendly and check in was efficient. Room service was expensive. Overall, it's nice but not worth the extra money.
