...otherwise I'd end up that way. While the hotel staff was cordial enough, the room was lacking. Especially while traveling alone, I'm always looking for reasonable quarters at a good price. Reasonable to me means clean and welcoming. Although the room looked clean, it didn't smell welcoming and had that untidy feeling that makes you unsmile because you feel uncomfortable. While the hotel is perched near the Hudson River, I certainly didn't feel like exploring the room as Henry Hudson did while winding up the river. It seemed like every turn in this closet sized room had a surprise: there was the cigarette burn on the blanket in my non-smoking room; there was the free foot bath while taking a shower with a backed-up drain. Certainly not deal breakers, but combined with the loud A/C unit and unlit corner of the building added to the atmosphere of staying in the basement of a close relative. I was lured into Cocca's Inn & Suites by the 3 star rating found on trip advisor: based on my budget for that night, 2 and 3 stars were my options; in hindsight, I should have increased my budget. Although I only paid $68 for the hotel room, I still didn't get what I paid for. A note regarding the pictures: they were taken the morning of my departure. In rating the sleep quality, I waivered between a 2 and a 3, but it would be unfair to blame my sleeplessness on the hotel room.
Room Tip: Ask to see and smell the room first.
