Not sure why this hotel isn't ranked higher. Only stayed 1 night, but my experience was excellent. Room was clean, everything worked perfectly, including everything in the kitchen. And the rooms are very big! The lobby is very inviting, and has a good sized TV and several couches and chairs. Hotel is very close to downtown Albany, in a good neighborhood and overall a great hotel.

My only complaint was the bed. Some people love a firm mattress, but not me. But because of that, the beds may be perfect for some.

I've stayed here several times over the past 4 years, and it's always clean - and there's always friendly service. There's a Walgreen's across the street - and it's less than a mile from about 30 bars/eateries on Lark St. The immediate area isn't the greatest - but why penalize the hotel for the neighborhood people not mowing their lawns? Don't believe the negative reviews...some people aren't happy if there isn't an Applebee's within sight of their hotel (most Americans). The rest of us do a little investigation, and find hidden gems.

My wife and I really were impressed with this hotel. The Hotel was fully booked the night we stayed, and there were no parking spaces left in the hotel lot. The desk clerk actually went out and moved her car so we had a place to park! The room was spacious and clean. The complimentary breakfast was great, and the attendant was very friendly and responsive. He greeted everyone as they came into the breakfast area and cleaned every table whenever someone finished their breakfast. I've always liked hotels in the Marriott chain, and this one will go to the top of the list. Driving directions were a little convoluted to get there from the Interstate, but the website direction got us there without much difficulty.

We love to stay at this TownePlace when we travel over to Albany for some shopping, dining, to see a movie, etc.
It is always clean and well kept, the staff are friendly and polite, the suites are in very good condition, the pool and exercise room are just fine for an overnight stay, the self-serve breakfast nook is always stocked well, the coffee it hot and fresh and well, this is the only hotel we book at in Albany !!
It can be tricky to find if you're not familiar with Albany, but once we got the route down now its zip in and zip out.. over to Crossgates or the Colonie, to Delmonico's for a tasty dinner, to the Albany museum... you get the picture .
