“Wonderful setting, half interested staff and OTT food”

The first stop on our honeymoon was L'archipel and even though we found a few things not quite to our taste during our five days overall it was a very pleasant stay. The setting is wonderful and our room and the hotel beach area were excellent. I think the staff could do with a little more energy and I think the menus for dinner are way too formal with chefs trying to offer London restaurant dishes but not hitting the mark

Make sure you take the ferry to La Digue and also visit Bom Bom Plume restaurant at Anse Lazio for a chilled out lunch with a feet in the sand experience

“L'Archipel with it's beautiful location, friendly staff and amazing food has a place in our hearts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2010

My future wife and I stayed at L'Archipel for 7 nights in July 2010 and had our wedding at the hotel during our stay. My "intended" knew that we were going to The Seychelles to get married however she had no idea about the hotel and ceremony details, as I had made all the arrangements. As a consequence given that from a bride's perspective this is HER big day, I had my fingers crossed that our dream wedding / honeymoon would be unforgettable for the right reasons.

I needn't have worried, L'Archipel and its staff made our week with them extra special. Flavio, the hotel wedding organiser, was an absolute star and his beaming smile and calming style was ideal, particularly when 2 hours prior to our planned beachside wedding the weather started to take a turn for the worse and with little fuss he was able to re-organise the wedding including government registrar, photographer, cake and flowers for the following day. Our wedding was beautiful!

I have read a number of reviews of the hotel staff on Tripadvisor which have not been positive. From our experience, the staff could have not done anymore for us and they were all genuinely friendly, kind and very professional in executing their duties (including when one of the waiters volunterred to video our wedding for us - he did a great job).

The food in the restaurants was exceptional. We are so glad that we booked half-board. Not only did it take away the hassle of looking for restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel (apart from other beachside hotels - 15 mins walk away) the food was of an oustanding standard for the price we paid. The quality was absolutely up with 5 star restaurants in Europe, without the price and pretensiousness. I've also read a number of disgruntled comments about the price of alcohol. You have to remember that alcohol is imported and is such at a premium price. That being said the price of a glass of wine in the restaurant was similar to that you would pay at a half decent restaurant in the UK.

During our stay we were lucky to be upgraded from an executive room to a suite. Both rooms were spotlessly clean with fresh flowers used to decorate the bedrooms and bathroom on a daily basis - beautiful and romantic!

If you are considering having a wedding in a tropical location, please consider L'Archipel for your venue!

Whilst I'm sure that alot of people that go to L'Archipel say that they will go back there again because they had a special time, the hotel and in particular its staff have secured a spot in my and my wife's heart AND WE WILL BE GOING BACK to celebrate a future wedding anniversary.

“Superb setting, Good Food but pricey drinks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2010

Hotel is in a lovely setting with a good swimming beach and delightful grounds. Rooms large with spacious bathrooms but rather dimly lit if you want to read at night. Most rooms seem to have good sea views looking out towards Curieuse Island. Extremely helpful reception staff and very good and friendly service in restaurant. Food was excellant and attractively presented but a pity that those on half board only eat by the beach on buffet evenings (wednesdays and saturdays). Main disadvantage of this hotel was cost of drinks even by Seychelles standards. Cheapest wine was around £26-£30 with Seybrew around £4 a bottle.

Found Pierre who runs the boat trips from the hotel helpful and although the trips are expensive they are less than if you book via the reps from Masons or Creole and can be tailor made.

Would suggest if going to La Digue to get reception to book ferry and either get taxi or bus to ferry. Can go on organised trip but expect to pay £80-90 for 2 instead of around £40.

Good way to get around is the local bus which is very cheap and runs from the end of the drive to the hotel - reception can give you a timetable.

It appears you can use either rupees or euros for most things but it appears that you pay more if paying in euros - maybe by up to 15%.

You can walk along the road or part road / beach to Cote D'or village in about 25min and get wine and beer at 1/4 cost of hotel.

“Went the extra mile for our wedding - great with children”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2010

We stayed for a week at L'Archipel in a large group ranging in age from 5-65. The rooms were clean and well kept and the 'bed art' every night was a fun extra. The grounds of the hotel are very well maintained with lovely flowers. The atmosphere is laid back and relaxing. The beach was quiet and the water was gentle - there was some seaweed but that's just nature and the hotel did rake it up every morning. The food (we were on half board) was excellent - the waiters and chefs made a real effort to come and speak to people and to keep the children happy. Drinks are quite expensive so for essentials we walked down the bay (about 25 mins) to the shop and stocked up. The staff were all very friendly and really tried to make guests happy - they were happy to move half the dive shop because that was where we decided we wanted to get married! They also provided us with a whole floor of the restaurant for our private wedding meal, which was great, especially when it came to the speeches. The casino down the road is worth going to, as is the UNESCO Coco de Mer park. Lovely time and many fond memories. Thank you L'Archipel.

“a splurge for aged back-packers NOT luxury for honeymoon”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2010

Mmmmmmm, not the best to be honest.

Staff at reception & check-in a little jaded, didn't even make that much eye contact when they were giving the speel about what they have etc.

Bedroom REALLY poor. Big dark black box. Set against a hill, walk up through the grass to get there (can you say 'mosquitos'). Big dark room, not enough lights or lamps or windows. On the plus side there were gorgeous views of the bay from your terrace and the bathroom was spacious.

Food for half-board was VERY GOOD. Really no complaints abut the dinner menus.

Beach was crap - tiny & sea-weedy. Unless you wanted to set your alarm to bag a lounger with a towel then you wouldn't get one.

Felt a little like a place that was a real splurge for matured back-packers but certainly not the 4 star honeymoon luxury the website portrays.

AND, not that cheap!
