We just returned from a fantastic holiday in the Seychelles and spent the majority of our time at Les Villas d'Or. We could not have been more pleased with our choice of accommodation. The service was outstanding. Pierre and the office staff were always willing to answer our questions, offer advice and/or make arrangements for taxis, restaurant reservations, etc. In person the villas are much nicer than they photograph, so you will be pleasantly surprised. The private verandas are very comfortable. They vegetation is strategic enough to make things feel private while still allowing for a nice breeze. The sitting room has a ceiling fan which keeps you cool in the evenings. The kitchen is very well equipped. The bedroom is comfortable with both a fan and a/c. As vegetarians we guessed it may be wise to go self catering and lucky we did. Not only were restaurants expensive but there were not very "vege friendly" (one place actually wanted to charge 30 USD for a plate vegetarian lasagna!). Shops are about a 10 minute walk up the road (via the beach or road) and have a decent selection, though not as good as what you find on Mahe. Vegetables were sometimes to come by, so buy when you can. The beach is only a few steps from the front of the villa and the property is thoughtful enough to place two beach chairs outside your villa to take to the beach if you so desire. The beach itself is quite nice, allowing for sunning or long walks. The shaded area between the villas and the beach is the perfect place to sit and enjoy the wonderful breeze if you get too hot. The property has a small pool for a change of pace when desired. It rained a few of the days we were there but the villa itself was so comfortable that we spent the day reading and relaxing quite happily. The staff made the rounds on Christmas delivering presents to the guests which was a really nice touch. The only word of caution we would offer is that you may want to bring a pair of ear plugs to be safe. While the property is silent, it is also very kid friendly. The villas are paired and share a common wall with a door (to join the villas if wanted) and while we couldn't hear normal conversations, the screaming child who moved in next door for a few days definitely kept us sleep deprived. While the beach at the villas is great, don't miss Anse Lazio as it will take your breath away. Another piece of advice unrelated to the villas - be prepared to wait a LONG time if you go out for a meal. Whether lunch of dinner the process took at least two hours regardless of how busy (or not) the restaurant may be. We found this on all three islands. The exception was the restaurant at Paradise Sun - their service was lightening fast! They also have a pretty decent spa. If you rent a car (we suggest two days), eat at the Cafe du Monde on the opposite side of the island. You will also find a larger grocery store that is part of a strip mall on the way to the restaurant. In hindsight, as much as we loved staying in Praslin for as long as we did, we do wish we had booked a few nights on La Digue - our day trip just wasn't long enough!
