After long reading, we decided to go to the Berjaya Praslin Resort. But the first thing I did was ask specifically for a refurbish room, and I did right!
The hotel is not that bad overall, not a 4 star for sure, the service is ok, basic and not very cured.
I heard directly from other customers that old rooms are terrible, small, dirty, humid and a lot of people were complaining about it and left the hotel ( everyday there was somebody at the reception asking to be moved somewhere else, but the entire island was full and had to stay there)
As far as I can say, the room we had, close to the reception, right in front of the pool, was not bad at all. Spacious, clean, modern. We were lucky!
Breakfast is ok, nothing great, not for Italian customers. The problem was that around 9am everything was gone and there was no change to have something more till the end of the service, 10am.
We had dinner only once, and never again, expensive and not good, you can have nicer dinner right outside the hotel, in few restaurants along the street. So do not choose the half board option, not worth it at all!
The position is quite good, few steps from the beach (one of the best!). There are few drug stores right outside, a couple of good restaurants, few shops. Overall, Anse Volbert is a nice village, probably the nicest on Praslin, and a good start point for daily excursions.
In the end, are you a looking for a paradise in Seychelles, as seen on catalogues and pictures? Do not choose this hotel.
Are you looking for an average hotel, not too expensive, in a good position and planning to be out of the room all day? then you could consider this one.
Attention Italians, do not book this hotel through an agency, the price you will pay is more than doubled! You can just contact the hotel directly and ask for the best rate and a new room!

If we wouldn't have paid the entire stay to a travel agency in advance I would have changed the hotel after the 1st night. My wife and I are travelling a lot, but we never checked-in in a hotel like that one. It's just a joke. I don't wanna write down here all the horrible things we experienced at this resort. Sorry, but the only positive thing is really just the location. You definitely never get what you will pay for: it's a total rip off. I just give you a good advice. Skip to the next hotel on your website. PS: Read the posting of Mr. rod A - I totally share his oppinion

I wish you already now a great stay at the beautiful Seychelles. Tip: try to find a hotel at La Digue. This island is top off - much nicer than Praslin. Take some spray against the sea (sand) fleas.

Barjaya is by far the best resort in the Seychelles for couples looking for rest and silence. Almost no children, the resort is made for honey mooners and even after 25 years marriage it feels all right. The only minus point is the rough sea if you are a swimmer (the waves are to high to swim) but at least you won't be eaten by a shark ...

It was our second time at seychelles and we will be back in April ....

Firstly I was always skeptical of bad reviews, thought them as just winers but.... This place was horrible in all regards except the entrance sign and lobby. Standard room, no TV, no inroom safe, no smoke alarm, no daily maid service, room smelled musty, could not change rooms. View from the room was piles of old doors and junk from the "remodeling". Beach service is all but non existant unless you could find some one not on their "lunch break". No water activities, no pool bar service. Entertainment was a 1 out of 5. Stayed on HB, food was so so, fresh is not on the menu but if you like unripe fruit and canned runny cakes you'll love this place. 5 nights in paradise that I'll never get back which is to bad for being in such a beautiful place.
