What a lovely hotel. Would recommend upper room. Staff very friendly. Breakfast was good.
Did not eat in restaurant. Did try the beach restaurant that was good with lovely beach view.
Easy to walk into village lots of places to eat.
The beach was great lovely to walk up and down.
Great location. Pool also pleasant.

“Excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2011

We spent 5 nights here and can thoroughly recommend it. We were made to feel very welcome when we arrived and throughout our stay staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was large, comfortable, well air-conditioned and private. The hotel's location was truly excellent, only a 10 min walk along the beach to the shops and on one of the main bus routes around the island. The food was plentiful, varied and delicious. A lovely hotel in a great location!

“Quiet, friendly and clean.”

The hotel is very quiet and has established gardens covered in local flowers and palm trees. A nicely sized pool with sun loungers and a good restaurant and bar, with direct beach access with more loungers on the beach.

We spent 10 days here with my 3 boys (ages 11,9 & 8 yrs) and my new wife (we got married in the hotel gardens at Acajou). The staff couldnt do enough for us for our entire stay and were very accommodating.

The wedding was handled superbly with 3 gardeners rallying around producing a stunning backdrop of flowers for the service, a top chef produced a great coco-de-mere wedding cake and a 5* evening meal for us all.

Room wise the standard is ok, double or twin beds, fridge, tv , safe, full bathroom suite with bath/shower, aircon and balcony. The superior has a bigger room, double baclony and extras like slippers, bathrobes, toiletries ice maker in freezer etc. For our boys an extra bed was availble in the standard. They have a couple of deluxe rooms right on the beach front but we didnt have a look so cant comment on the interior.

The restaurant food was a good quality although the evening menu didn’t change for our entire 10 day stay. I think they only expect people to stay 3-4 nights so I am glad that we only went B&B as 10 nights with the same menu would have driven us mad!. There were 2 buffet nights during this period though. Generally main meals would cost 200 - 300 SRP (£10-15) each. There is no kids menu, but we had an agreement with the management to do half portions at half price for our kids as they would never finish an adult meal.

All the staff were very happy and polite but special mentions must go to:
Jo (the manageress) was extremely friendly and would go out of her way to check that everything was just as we wanted, Richard the main receptionist was a helpful and funny chap always with a smile on his face, and Raymond a waiter was always on hand to help us with any special menu requests for the kids.

Bad points are hard to say but here goes:
They need to have more variation on the menu
Generally they need to let you know of activities going on in the local area (there was a Creole festival going on down the road that wasn't mentioned to us - we found out from a taxi driver).
We were ambushed by sand flies on the last couple of days, not really the hotels fault but kind of spoilt the wedding/honeymoon. They do spray the beach once a month for this but also do it when reported by the guests.

Not related to the hotel just in the Seychelles as a whole, we were advised to take dollars and euro's. We found that paying in Seychelles rupees (SRP) was the best value or £ sterling was better than Euro's. Always ask for a price in SRP as excursions/taxis seem to cost more in Euro's. US dollars weren’t even asked for.

“Comfortable, down to earth and honest”

The hotel is very well located on a beautiful stretch of beach.
I was very impressed with this little hotel, the rooms are a very comfortable size and have a good sized bed. Basic TV, AC and mini bar (empty) but plenty of space to both relax on the balcony or work on the desk.
A lot of effort has gone into the food, the best thing to order is anything seafood as it is all very fresh.
One of the downsides is that you can hear people walking around on the first floor if you have a ground floor room. Apart from that the service is very good and has all the services required, wi-fi, small gym and small massage room.

“Romantic getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2011

I would describe Acajou as a boutique hotel. Directly on the beach that we shared with shared with hardly anyone during our stay. It felt like we were on our own private beach. Rooms were spacious, clean and beautifully decorated. Food was tasty, dining room classy, and service incredible. From the front desk staff to the pool cleaner, we experienced gracious hosts who made us feel welcome and wanting to return.

I think we will.
