“ups and downs”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2010

Fairyland has a strange vibe to it - mainly due to the miserable staff especially the lady manager. IT is in a lovely location on a secluded beach, and its a good point from which to explore the island. As the SEychelles is madly expensive, Fairyland does offer good value accomodation and meals. we did get a bad tummy once but generally the all inclusive half board is undoubtedly good value.

However, it is tatty and extremely basic, although a good budget way to stay in an expensive place. It was clean. However, they charge extra just to put the air conditioning on. The lady manager incensed me with her continual rudeness and unwillingness to help or basically, provide any service, let alone service with a smile. Every time she did help she acted like it was a favour that she begrudged. Her husband the owner barely acknowledged us all week. The room staff were lovely and smiley I have to say though.

All in all we had a fantastic holiday but this was despite the Staff at Fairyland.

Trades on the fact that all rooms have a balcony, only 3 have decent balconies and these are reserved for those who have booked via agents. ours was a closed in balcony with no view, only smells from the kitchen extract. Rooms very outdated and in need of revamp. Staff fairly unhelpful, but sorted us out a hire car when pushed. On a lagoon, not a proper beach, swimming very poor. In a cut off positions, so you need a car. Food very good, particularly the buffet which is very reasonably priced. I understand it is sold and going to be closed - explains a lot.

“Unfriendly”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 March 2010 via mobile

Called at Fairyland one afternoon for food and drink. The bar area seemed to have no other customers. A waitress came to our table, said nothing, gave us a most unwelcome look, whilst holding a pad and pen. We asked for a menu but were told there was no food. My colleague was so put off by the waitresses glare she wanted to leave immediately. I had been driving & was hot so asked for an orange juice. This tasted like poor quality cordial. I drank it quickly and we hurriedly left. Cost 40 rupees - just under 3 euros.

“Wonderful Fairyland”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2010

My wife and I stayed 6 nights at Fairyland during our honeymoon in July'07 and we loved every bit of it. Per, Bettina & little Alana were the nicest hosts and we being vegetarian, Bettina made sure we got vegetarian food on all nights. Breakfast by the beach was something which we looked for everday. The view from our room was absolutely romantic. Being a low season, we practically had the beach to ourselves most of the time!

A convinience store right opposite to the hotel and a bus stop made sure that short eats (biscuits, chocolates and the like) and traveling to victoria were never a problem.

There were couple of nights with music which was real good - It looked like half of Mahe was at Fairyland!! and Bettina again made sure that vegetarian fare was part of the meal.

Though I am unsure about the condition of the hotel now, I would gladly recommend Fairyland to anyone who asks me for an opinion!! Rather than book at a fancy (and extremely crowded) beach resort at Beau Valon, book this place and have a blast!!

“Fantastic stay”

We stayed in fairyland a while ago, but I loved the place. The rooms are basic but big. The view from the balcony is fantastic. A little walk (go left from the entrance, over the hill) there is this beautiful private beach, where you can have a fantastic swim-dive-snorkle.
Don´t expect to much of the interieur of the rooms or the restaurant, as I said it is basic.
There is a fridge, and a double bed, and a huge balcony.
The is not much to do during the night, except the bar.
If you fly to the Seychelles you can buy alcohol uppon arrival at the airport. It is very cheap, what makes you thing that alcohol is cheap on the island, but it is not! Buy some here.
We stayed at Romance bungalows as well, but that place was far less magical than Fairyland, too many tourists (not the bungalows, but the place).
If you want the bounty resort feeling of the Seychelles and don´t need the luxury, go to Fairyland!
