“Beautiful guest house in Galilee”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2010

After spending 3 days in the middle of bustling Old City Jerusalem, this lovely guest house was the perfect spot for a respite in the country. We got an amazing view of the some of the cliffs of Mount Arbel and a cozy, clean apartment equipped with a living area and small kitchenette. Sara and Israel Shavit were lovely hosts, providing delicious and filling breakfast in the morning and a cozy atmosphere in the evenings for dinner. The prices for dinner were the steepest out of all the meals of the trip (around 100-150 NIS/person), but the quality was quite good and for us, it was also worth the convenience to not have to go elsewhere.

Also, another review commented on the Shavit's English skills -- Israel did not seem to be very fluent, but we had no problems communicating with Sara. She arranged a driver for some sight-seeing we wanted to do since we did not rent a car and also took us to their wine cellar so we could bring home some Galilean wine without making a trip into the city. Apparently, Israel makes chocolates and candies down there -- we received a nice little treat as we were picking out wine!

As other reviews mention, Moshav Arbel is a little remote, so if you're staying for a prolonged period of time (we were there for just two nights), you might want to rent a car or stay in Tiberias depending on your travel plans. If you want a charming atmosphere to enjoy the country, I would recommend this place 100 times over.

“Beautiful property, rooms, location at a great price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2010

Our room had a separate bedroom from the main living area, full kitchen supplies, flatscreen television with tons of cable channels, a private jacuzzi, private balcony, covered free parking, and was clean and kept tidy with fresh supllies daily. Trip to Tiberias was under 10 minutes, and indeed Arbel is much more pleasant to retire to than any of the overcrowded Tiberias loud hotels we could spot. We didn't eat any meals, although with advance notice they serve all meals on the property in a separate restaurant overlooking the pool. A great stay at a great price.

“Quite charming, great pool, excellent food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2010

Quite charming, felt like home, the food was delicious, gourmet. The guest house could have been alittle more updated, was old, but did have charm. The pool was beautiful, great to relax in after a day of site seeing.
It was a bit out of the way and extremely hard to find unless you have a GPS and know how to get there before you start out. We found that Tiberius was not a great place to see, lake was very dirty. We would recommend skipping this area all together. Go to Safat for the day instead like we did.

“Great food and beautiful surroundings but difficult to reach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2010

The guesthouse was situated very beautiful on the countryside, with a beautiful garden.
But you probably need a car to get there. Although very close to Tiberias, it was hard to find a bus, and it didnt go all the way. So, I couldnt make the trips I wanted in the galilee.
I would recommend that you stay in Tiberias instead, if you dont have a car.

The place was very clean though, with beautiful rooms. The food was AMAZING, I really would go there just for the food, the owner cooks it himself.
I also slept very well, it was very serene and peaceful.
