“Best Nights Sleep in Israel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2009

The Tulip Inn has seen better days, the reception area is tired but the rooms which are self contained chalets were very comfortable, clean, fully airconditioned and we had the best nights sleep in all of Israel. We were given a complimentary bowl of fruit the evening we arrived. The hotel has access to the Sea of Galilee and while the beach is lovely the water is shallow and muddy underfoot making it difficult to swim. There were two Rock Hyrax scurrying on the rocks though that were fun to watch!. It's a ideal base if you have a car as it's close to all the religious sites, the Golan Heights and 14km from Tiberias. The breakfast was fantastic and we couldn't have asked for more. The chef was very friendly and called by our table to make sure everything was ok. Make sure you bargain for the room as there is good value if you are not afraid to ask. The hotel has its own bomb shelters which makes for an interesting feature.

“Watch your credit card!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2009

I made reservations through American Express. Paid 25 THOUSAND points per night, what a waste! Not even talking about their rooms being atrocious, dirty at best but when I arrived they asked a credit card for "proof of ID". Since that first check-in, they kept on asking me again for a credit card because they don't see a payment. Even after showing them the transaction from American Express, they kept me for hours in their lobby until they "verified". Finally at check-out time they told me it was verified and they are sorry for the "inconvinience...". They waited two weeks and yes you guessed it! they charged my card not just for the same amount that I already paid for Amex but for the inconvinience they added about 20 percent!

“cute & simple”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2008

A very simple and neat 3 star hotel on the northern beach of the Sea of Galilee. The hotel is built in a bungalow style (not one building with rooms). Each unite has a bedroom and small living room with a coffee-tea maker and small fridge.
Staff were a bit tiered but friendly and efficient when asked questions.
Breakfast was just fine. Dining room is on the beach and was fun having morning tea looking at the Sea of Galilee.
Perfect location for tours of the northern part of Israel. Perfect for families with kids, groups and whoever is looking for a hat shower and clean bed.
Highly recommended.

“Alternative Stay to Prima Tiberias”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2008

We were to stay at The Prima in Tiberias. (Wrote a review) After seeing that hotel, we jumped online with Expedia. The Tulip Inn was the only hotel left so we took our chances.

If you are into high quality furniture, housekeeping that goes above and beyond clean or being in a busy city life....you may be disappointed.

The Tulip Inn sits on a small private section of The Sea of Galilee. It is in the country and you need a car to get around. It is beautiful.

The furniture looked like it came from an 80's 2nd hand store, the bathrooms needed a redo and the bedroom had two twins shoved together, which I found to be the norm in Israel. There was broken glass on our outside patio when we arrived and someone tossed a dirty diaper behind the hot water heater along with some towels. I believe housekeeping never noticed this. Still, despite old worn out rooms, this was the best place we could have ever booked to get away from the hussles of the city life.

There is an AC in both the livingroom and the bedroom. You will be froze solid by morning. There is a mini fridge. The breakfast is beyond what we had expected. Huge variety and we opted for dinner to be included in our hotel price. We were ever so pleased with the chef's ability to whip up fantastic each day. The staff had to have been the best we experienced while in Israel.

When you leave your room and walk down by the private beach, we were taken back by the view and the spectacular surroundings. The hotel room itself can be labeled as a 2 star but the sea area is indeed a 5. They have day-beds, chairs and there are 2 "look out" points above the sea which is amazing to experience during sunrise and sunset. The resteraunt is 5 star all the way. It's beautiful actually. Even the smallness of a window section where it has been shattered looks like art.

The ground between the hotel room and resteraunt could use a little TLC. There was some garbage tossed about.

The BIG flaw back is lunch time. You have to go into Tiberias to locate something to eat. This is fine if you do not mind the city life. There is a fish resteraunt less then a 1/4 mile from The Tulip Inn (I forgot the name) that is over priced, hot and not worth the shekel unless you are starved beyond belief. We risked our nerves inside Tiberias and found the best street vender serving Falafels.

I would go back!!

“Quiet retreat by the lake”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2007

This facility was once known as "Amnun Bay Resort" and was recently bought by the Fatal hotels corporation that holds the franchise for the Tulip trademark in Israel.
It's rated as 3 stars hotel (tourist class).
It's located on the north shore of the Sea of Galilee ("Kinneret" in Hebrew), close to the holy Christian site of Capernaum.
This is not a highrise building, but groups of one level units scattered on a slope of a hill above the beach.
The room: every room is a stand alone unit. It has small bedroom (10 sq. meters) and a living room (15 sq. meters)with a sofa, small TV and tea/coffee making facilities and a fridge. No safe deposit box in the room. The living room can sleep 2 kids. Powerfull aircon.
There's a nice balcony on the front with plastic table and chairs.
Food: average buffet breakfast included. Some times dinner is available for additional price. The lack of eating options for lunch and dinners is a major drawback, and the management said to be working for solution. You'll need a car to drive at least 10 minutes to nearby restaurants. "Capernaum Restaurant" is the closest , but it's a typical tourist trap with overpriced disapointing food.
Beach: is the major attraction of this place. It's for the hotel's guests and very pleasant, and has a lifeguard on duty. Like everywhere around this lake, the beach is stony, so bring plastic shoes or sandals. Strong undercurrents require precautions, drowning is easy, so beware.
I counted 40 stairs from my room to the beach, can be tiring with little kids on a hot day.
Bottom line: a quiet alternative to noisy Tiberias, basic comfort, helpfull staff.
