“Lovely resort by the Sea of Galilee”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

I stayed for one night in the Gai Beach Resort Hotel as part of a large group touring around the Galilee area in winter, and it was a very pleasant experience.

Here are the things I enjoyed about this hotel:

1) Beautiful waterfront - the wide expanse of waterfront stretches the length of the hotel buildings and still a fair bit more, encompassing the pool area, the beach and the grassy areas. It was magical strolling along this stretch, especially in the morning with the sunrise coming up from the hills and over the Sea of Galilee. Truly unforgettable.

2) Free wifi in the lobby - Not just free wifi but the lobby was well lit and ventilated, spacious, and contained a good number of comfy sofas / seats that accommodated the internet-hungry tourists from 2 large groups easily.

3) Food - best buffet food among the 4 hotels I stayed in. The continental dinner main courses were very good.

Here are some things I didn't quite like or found unfavourable:

1) No free coffee and tea in room, though kettle and glasses were present.

2) Standard double room was a tad small, being in the old wing of the hotel. It was still cosy with a good heater for the cold winter night.

All in all, I loved my time at the Gai Beach Resort Hotel.

“Just as good as it was the first time.”

It had been several years since I stayed at the Gai Beach Resort and I had completely forgotten how good it was. The rooms are standard, upscale tourist style and the dining was fairly typical group type buffet. However, on the second night of our stay we were treated to a lavish outdoor bar-b-que on the expansive patio area. Steaks, burger and dogs-what a treat.

I have just one thing to comment about my stay-internet access. I wish Israeli hotels would make free (or reasonable) in-room internet access a priority. We're just so connected with our online friends and families that this is an absolute necessity. Not to mention those of us that make our living through an internet connection. The hotel did have a good wi-fi connection in the lobby, but nothing in the rooms.

All in all I would recommend this hotel for tour groups, families and business travelers.

“Tranquility... in Israel?”

The Gai Beach Hotel in Tiberias was the most tranquil place I stayed in Israel. Although the room accommodations were a bit outdated, the waterfront experience on the Sea of Galilee was miraculous. There is also a small outdoor waterpark at the hotel that remains closed in the winter months, but it would be great in the summer if you were to bring kids. A nightly stroll in the town of Tiberias is charming and we felt safe the entire time. Highly recommended!

“Beautiful Scenery”

I will start with the best part, and then briefly discuss the not so great part. The meals were wonderful. There was plenty of healthy delicious tasting food. The patio was lovely, especially in the evening. The patio lights reflect on the pool, and the breeze coming from the sea, persuade you to relax and enjoy your surroundings.

I was pleased to be able to open the patio door to let fresh air come in at night. (I prefer fresh air rather than AC when I sleep at night.)

We were two females in a room that was not large enough for two. We didn't have ample space in the closet, and there weren't many dresser drawers so we left most of our gear in our suitcases. Also, we had a problem getting wash clothes. We joked about it, because when we went to our next hotel we had the same problem.
