“Different experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2011

It seems I had a different experience than everyone else at King Solomon. The hotel is not centrally located but it has everything you need. The only complaint is if you are in the Kinneret Wing (floors 2-6) then you have to take 2 elevators and walk long hallways to get to your room. And the hallways aren't heated, so it's a very chilly walk in the winter. The views of the Galilee are beautiful and most rooms have balconies. There are also communal balconies on every floor to let you enjoy the scenery. The food was fine, not 5* and it was a repetitive buffet, but I've had much worse in Israel. The service is fine, when someone lost their keys, the front desk had someone up there in 5 minutes. There is a pool and spa. A friend ordered a massage and loved it. The rooms were clean and adequate size. There is a nightclub (or discotheque) right on premises that's open until midnight. The conference facilities do leave something to be desired. I didn't leave money in the room, but did leave a passport and iPod hidden in my luggage, neither were taken. But I always put a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door because I don't need my room cleaned or anyone walking in. I have heard from friends who've stayed here that theft is a problem, through.

“One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2010

I spent one night in this hotel as part of a tour. We arrived late at night . . . and left early in the morning. And I couldn't leave fast enough. The hotel is old and dirty. The elevator feels like a death trap. The door to the room didn't have a chain or any sort of deadbolt - it seemed very unsafe. The rooms are run down and the sheets are threadbare. The towels in the bathroom are like small rectangles of sandpaper. I would NEVER return.

“What a dump!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2010

It was dreadful--the furniture was broken, TV didn't work, couldn't close the bathroom door and it was filthy. The carpet appeared not to have been cleaned or even vacuumed in YEARS. The bathroom sink was stopped up. The shower head went flying off when one of our group tried to use the shower. Would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

“Stay somewhere else”

My daughter just returned from a 10-day tour with Taglit-Birthright Israel. She traveled with about 40 college kids and a few educators. At this hotel she shared a room with two other girls. While they were out their room was entered and money, clothes and my daughter's passport were stolen. The room was not forcibly entered although as other posters have noted the locks are not adequate. My daughter was also told that while they were there a young adult, not associated with my daughter's trip, was raped in her hotel room. Given another poster also reported intruders in their rooms this is not an isolated incident.

The only positive thing she said about this hotel is that the view of the sea was very nice.

As a footnote I will add that she did not let this experience detract from her trip. The Birthright folks were wonderful about getting her to the US Embassy in Tel Aviv to get a replacement passport. My daughter thought Israel was amazing and would love to go back and spend more time there.

“Adequate hotel, no-frills rooms, decent pool/spa, weird location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2009

Overall, a basic 3-star hotel with better-than-3-star recreation facilities. We were here for a weekend as someone's guest, so my review doesn't take into account the price of the room, as we paid for it:

The good:
- Decent spa & outdoor pool
- Quiet location
- Each room has private balcony and gorgeous views of the Kinneret (Sea of Galillee)
- Beautiful, rennovated, breezy terrace in the rear of hotel offers wonderful views and nice place for drinks
- Rooms are functional and well-designed
- Hotel successfully caters to both religious and non-Sabbath-observant guests. One Shabbat elevator, one regular one; pool and spa facilities are open on Shabbat, but are somewhat separated from rooms so that nighttime pool entertainment does not disturb those wishing for a quiet evening; rooms had conventional keys instead of electronic cards, etc.

The not-so-good:
- Main lobby and other halls were clean, but we had a function which occupied one half of one of the spa-level conference rooms. Our half was clean, but the other half was filthy (broken bottles, sticky floor), and there was no physical barrier between the room halves.
- Food is so-so, and repetitive
- Location is out-of-the-way in a residential area that is far from the city center.
- Rooms are somewhat basic.
- We stayed during peak summer season, and some of the children's activities were unavailable.
- The pool does not open until 10am, which is very late in hot, humid Tiberias.
- Room had no mini-fridge, although you an "rent" one from the hotel for NIS 40 (~US$10).
- No in-room safe.
