“Nice hotel but need renovation”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2011

This hotel is family hotel. 90% of the guests are Israelis.
The view is fantastic! Each room overlooks the Sea Of Galilee.
The pool is in the lower floor and pretty overcrowded with kids. But you can find your spot and enjoy it. The problem is that there is no shade.
The staff are very friendly (most of them).
The breaksfast is nice. I had better in other hotels in Israel but still it's batter than in Europe. Actually you have anything you need.
The location is pretty problematic. It's far from the downtown. Actually it's on the northern part of the city. You need a car to drive anywhere becouse there is no public transportation in the area and walking to the main street is something like 15-20 minutes. Also i haven't seen taxi waiting outside of the hotel. The rooms are ok, not small (like some hotels in Israel) and appointed for 4 people.
The balcony is big and nice where you can relax.

The main problem is that this hotel need renovation. It looks like the hotel is stuck in the 80's. Carpets are old and filthy, two old TV's from the early 90's: the first is 19" the second is something like 15" with something like 20 channels in analog transmission. Time to swap them with LCD and to move to Digital transmission.

In summary: nice hotel if you don't have big standards.

Room Tip: Don't agree for first floor (0-199). The view is not that good and it's very close to the po...

“average hotel, not well located. i would go back only if price irresistable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 June 2011

we spent a weekend there. it was sooooo hot. we had a family room which was nice- that is, a double bed for parents and 2 beds for kids in a somwhat seperated part. kitchen was a pleasant surprise since it had a little fridge and microwave and akk the utilities for eating. there is also a nice porch if you care to eat outside and melt while doing so...
the pool was ever so crowded with screamy kids and adualts to match..there was a "club med" atmoshphere if you care for that kind of vacation.. to our surprise the pool closed at 17:00 whuch is the perfect time to start sweeming with our delicate skin baby. therefore we hardly enjoyed the pool. there is no covered pool area either. not ideal for toddlers.
there is a minimarket inside the hotel and that is very convinient despite the unreasonable prices.
inside the room there are 2 t.v. sets. the aircondoitiong could use a boost..
we went there because of a greta deal we got..will only return if the same happens

Room Tip: ask for a family room viewing the kinneret

“Shabby but friendly”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 April 2011

Though part of the Club Hotel chain, this hotel doesn't compare to Club Hotel Eilat in terms of decor or facilities- but we still had a very good time due to the helpful staff. The place has great potential and with a complete overhaul it could be magical -as the view is splendid from every room. The lobby is vast and quite nice and modern and is constantly being cleaned and shined by the staff- but the rooms are old and haven't been updated in decades. The pool area is clean and overlooks the Kinneret which is nice, but it's not fancy at all like modern pool areas tend to be and the water is unheated- so it was too cold for me to swim- though others were in the pool.
The biggest disappointment was the kid's lounge which was filthy and under-equipped. It was so dirty that I had to bathe my kids immediately after- they were covered in dust and grime- disgusting! The rest of the hotel is well cleaned- just this corner seems to be entirely neglected from months on end.
Each room has a kitchenette so you can forgo the hotel dining room and prepare your meals if you wish to save money or calories-a nice option unavailable elsewhere! There is a mini-market on premises for buying groceries.
The entertainment staff is excellent and compensates somewhat for the lack of facilities. Each evening there are activities for young and old including games, shows, live music, etc.
The location is in a residential area- not walking distance from the center of town so it's very quiet. But if you want to be able to get to the city (beach, boardwalk, nightlife, etc) on foot you won't be able to from here.
Also- the fitness rooms costs extra which I thought was a bit odd.
It's a relaxing and fun hotel if you aren't picky about decor.

Room Tip: renovated rooms are available at extra cost

“Not Up To American Standards, But Trying Hard”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 March 2011
2
people found this review helpful

The hotel is in need of a refurbishment. It is not up to American standards.
Carpets are worn and stained. Beds are narrow and uncomfortable. Airplane pillows are better than the ones here.
In the suite there is a mini kitchen with utensils. There are two TVs with about 47 channels, but only 3-4 are in English, and those show mostly old American and Canadian shows. There is no clock or radio in the room.
Use of the gym costs extra. There is a convenience store on the lower level, but the prices are higher than in other markets.
On the good side: the view from the room is beautiful, overlooking the Kineret. You have a nice porch, with chairs and a table. The front desk staff is very friendly, and there is an entertainment troupe that works very hard to entertain the guests. There is free wi fi in the lobby. There is also entertainment nightly, though in Hebrew. A huge buffet breakfast is available.
The hotel caters to a mostly Israeli clientele. Therefore, most signage is in Hebrew, as are the postings on the activity board. Inexpensive tours are available departing from the hotel, for about $7. Just be aware that they are in Hebrew, and are subsidized by the companies you will be brought to to buy their products.
Club Hotel is in a residential area. A few blocks away there are some convenience stores, pizza parlors, etc. However, to get into the main part of Tiberias you must drive.
Be aware that when you arrive, you will only see a one story building! Oddly, the lobby is the top floor, and the rooms are all below, going down the side of the mountain. All the way at the bottom there is a pool area and parking. Access to parking is via an entrance about 200 feet from the hotel; easy to miss. You cannot walk down from the hotel to the Kineret (Sea of Galilee).
There is a synagogue on premises, on the 9th floor—one floor below the lobby, as well as a Shabbos elevator. Also available is a room with ironing boards and an iron.
Club Hotel is a timeshare hotel—people have weeks there that they are eager to use. Will you be satisfied there? If you are content to be outside the main part of Tiberias, and thus isolated, and aren’t fussy about the accommodations, you will be. But there are better choices in the heart of Tiberias along the Promenade.
