I took my wife to Canaan Spa for one night to celebrate our wedding anniversary and was quite satisfied with the experience.
The location is very pleasant, many of the rooms have a great view out over the surrounding areas. Other rooms seem to have a view of teh parking lot, so if a view is important to you make sure you are clear in your reservation. The hotel is located on Mt. Canaan, which is adjacent to Sefad, but we didn't leave the hotel.
The hotel itself is quite well kept, although its not exactly 5 star luxury. More like a decent 3.5 to 4 star. We had a "mini suite" which meant we had a little separate sitting area in our room, and our bed was a four poster with one of those surrounding curtains. Quite romantic - my wife was very excited about the bed. The rest of the room facilities were pretty standard - the bathroom was ok,, nothing spectacular. No separate bath and shower, just one of those regular bathtubs with a shower in it.
The Hotel lobby is very nice, with many places to sit around. They put out apples and there is an area with help yourself tea. Downstairs is the spa and the pool. They have turkish baths, wet and dry saunas a gym and a big indoor pool. Funny things was that the pool area was almost deserted while we were there, even though the hotel was fairly full. We didn't go for any treatments at the spa, but it all seemed very pleasantly kept.
The hotel has an interesting concept of "half board" (in a good way). They open their buffet for breakfast at 7am and leave it open until 3pm. You can come and go as often as you please and they change the food from more breakfasty food in the am to more lunch like food in the afternoon. Then they have a meat dinner from 7pm (the hotel is kosher). The food was decent. Nothing spectacular, but certainly not bad.
All in all we had a very pleasant time and had no real gripes. Let me just say that its no "Carmel Forest Spa" or "Mizpe Yamim", but then its a good deal less expensive as well. If you want a quiet weekend without kids (kids are not allowed) to sit by a pool or just laze about, I would recommend the Canaan Spa without hesitation.
