“An OK hotel with pluses and minuses...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2010

This hotel has its pluses and minuses.
The Location is not so good - away from the city (you need to drive there) and near nothing of interest. The only plus in this reguard is that the rooms located on the southern side have a nice view (whereas the rooms on the northern side have the parking view...).
We stayed at this hotel also last year so we have experience of both sides.
The room was not ready when we arrived at 3:00pm and when finally we got in our room the spa robes were not there and some of the towels were missing. These were supplied to us at once but still is a bother.
The rooms are small but comfortable with a small balcony.
Meals are large and tasety with a big variety to choose from.
There is free wi-fi from the lobby and free parking.
My wife used the pool and was satisfied.
All in all it is OK but I would expect more from such an expensive hotel (although I had a low priced deal as an Idf army invalid veteran, but still...).
A big advantage is that children under the age of 14 are not allowed and that is a big plus! :-)

“Excellent spa hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 March 2010

Although the road to the hotel is kind of ugly, the hotel itself is located on top of the mountain, with beautiful view of the sea of Kineret.
The service is kind, the food is great, spa is fine and rooms are wide.

The treatments in the spa are very very expensive.
Nice vacation.

“Bad Choice”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 February 2010

With the suggestion from our travel guide and a review in Israel's Time Out magazine we booked a two day stay at the Canaan Spa. It was bad! The food was mediocre and poorly presented. The spa treatments for two out of three of us were HORRIBLE --
and the staff was so difficult and not willing to accommodate our group when we wanted to sit together as a group of nine-- and the dining room was 3/4 empty!

If you are in this area stay at Mitzpe Hayamim....you will love it!

“Not as good as i expected”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2009

Firstly, the pool photos a wild exaggeration the pool is smallish, the spa is not so nice though the massage is still ok.
The hotel is in a neighborhood of Zfat and not at all secluded as their website shows.
there is nowhere to tan except for a small patch of grass overlooking the road.
the food is very very good.
rooms are a bit small and standard for the price you pay.

if you go there plan activities for the day as staying in the hotel is quite boring.

“Nice experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2009

I took my wife to Canaan Spa for one night to celebrate our wedding anniversary and was quite satisfied with the experience.

The location is very pleasant, many of the rooms have a great view out over the surrounding areas. Other rooms seem to have a view of teh parking lot, so if a view is important to you make sure you are clear in your reservation. The hotel is located on Mt. Canaan, which is adjacent to Sefad, but we didn't leave the hotel.

The hotel itself is quite well kept, although its not exactly 5 star luxury. More like a decent 3.5 to 4 star. We had a "mini suite" which meant we had a little separate sitting area in our room, and our bed was a four poster with one of those surrounding curtains. Quite romantic - my wife was very excited about the bed. The rest of the room facilities were pretty standard - the bathroom was ok,, nothing spectacular. No separate bath and shower, just one of those regular bathtubs with a shower in it.

The Hotel lobby is very nice, with many places to sit around. They put out apples and there is an area with help yourself tea. Downstairs is the spa and the pool. They have turkish baths, wet and dry saunas a gym and a big indoor pool. Funny things was that the pool area was almost deserted while we were there, even though the hotel was fairly full. We didn't go for any treatments at the spa, but it all seemed very pleasantly kept.

The hotel has an interesting concept of "half board" (in a good way). They open their buffet for breakfast at 7am and leave it open until 3pm. You can come and go as often as you please and they change the food from more breakfasty food in the am to more lunch like food in the afternoon. Then they have a meat dinner from 7pm (the hotel is kosher). The food was decent. Nothing spectacular, but certainly not bad.

All in all we had a very pleasant time and had no real gripes. Let me just say that its no "Carmel Forest Spa" or "Mizpe Yamim", but then its a good deal less expensive as well. If you want a quiet weekend without kids (kids are not allowed) to sit by a pool or just laze about, I would recommend the Canaan Spa without hesitation.
