“Rose Suite near Kekar Chabad”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

We spent six very comfortable nights in the Beit Yosef Rose Suite. Though it was very cold the December night we arrived, the heat quickly took the chill off the air and by the next morning, we were quite comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the dining/living room was wonderful when our grandchildren, who live in Tsfat, came to "Bubbe and Zayde's house." I was particularly appreciate of the almost instant hot water in the sinks and the shower. The location is convenient to many of the ancient religious sites and to the main street. There are several small restaurants literally down the block. (I liked Tree of Life best.)

“Like being in a beautiful storybook accomodation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

We stayed with my sister and my mother. The unit was exquisite and immaculate. The beds were plush and comfortable. There was no odor. Very centrally oriented near to art galleries, restaurants and tourist sites. Walking distance to everything. I cannot wait to go back again and have already sent friend to stay there. The owners were lovely and hospitable. I strongly recommend this bed and breakfast.

“Disaster. Be careful”

We booked in at the Metzuda for two nights but had to find alternative accommodation for the second. The apartment looks picturesque and very much ‘Tzefat’ but the beds are old and the apartment very musty. It seems that the air conditioning units haven’t been serviced for some time because it was frankly difficult to breath and my family could hardly sleep. The stuffed old sweaters are also a turn off and contribute to the uncomfortable atmosphere. We complained about the musty feeling and were told ‘open the windows and it will be OK’ but it wasn’t. The owner didn’t bother replying to an email and the lady who was prompt to take our money just shrugged her shoulders when we told her that we found the place inhabitable. I understand however that not all their suites are like this and that others are very pleasant indeed, perhaps we were unlucky to simply too fussy.

We were sorry to learn that this family did not enjoy their two day stay with us. I met with them the morning of their check out when they first intimated that they had not been very happy. It was a shame that they had not contacted me earlier because it may have been possible to change their suite.

It is not true to say that we did not respond to their e mail. They did email us their complaints on their return home and we replied immediately. Even though we felt their complaints came down to a matter of taste and style, we did offer them two free days in another of our suites to make up for their disappointment. However, we did point out that all of the Beit Yosef suites are decorated in antique style. The beds in the Metzuda suite are made of beautiful antique wood. There are hand- made quilts, blankets and pillows, mainly for decoration, but also regular duvets and top of the line linens.

Again we are sorry that this family did not enjoy their stay. We think it was just unfortunate that the antique style that characterises Beit Yosef, was not what this family had in mind when they made their travel plans.

“Very Memorable”

I stayed with family at the View House, perched high atop a hill in Tzfat. It was a charming house with great views. It's not your prototypical mid to higher end American hotel, so don't go in expecting modern design and features, but very comfortable and clean all the same. There were three bedrooms, each with two single beds (plus a 'den' that had an additional two beds), a full kitchen and two updated bathrooms. Free wifi included as well. A back porch overlooked the entire city. The front porch had a lime tree and a grape arbor, plus seating. There were many cats around (like in all of Israel) which my daughter found fascinating. The owner was very responsive, both via email in advance, and over the phone once we arrived in Israel.

We were looking for an affordable place to stay in the area for a family, with single beds and A/C. Most places we looked had only double beds (for a couple) and no A/C-- this was a very affordable, comfortable, and ultimately memorable, option.

One thing for note: there are MANY stairs to climb to get to the house -- carrying heavy luggage to and from the car was very difficult. Also, we happened to be there during the yearly 3 day Klezmer festival, so parking and traffic were a nightmare. On our last night, once the festival was over, parking was readily available, but it is street parking (not a parking lot).

“It was so special to stay here.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2011

We stayed in one of the "zimmers" near the Rimonim Hotel. It was so roomy and comfortable and beautifully decorated! Everywhere we looked there was another beautiful object or light to turn on to show off some feature. It was special to be in place built hundreds of years ago and in a fabulous location near the Artists' Colony.
Being winter we really appreciated the quilts and extra blankets although there was plenty of heating. The service from the management was fantastic even though they were not on site. We also got to meet the lovely people who own Beit Yosef.

The zimmer had a few quirks-we could hear the people in the zimmer next door (this suite can be opened up to join the other), the shower which was excellent was in a room off the kitchen and the key was tricky to get out of the lock. However, we loved it there.
