Our Group stayed two nights in this hotel and would not recommend it to anyone. As others have said, the hotel desperately needs a facelift - couches, chairs & carpets in the rooms and around the hotel, are stained - don't walk around without shoes or slippers! The chairs in the dining room were so disgusting - hardly a square inch without a stain - that I did not want to sit on them at all.
There is a beautiful big pool - but there's no water in it! There's no room service.... a friend who phoned the bar for a bottle of water was told,'It's US $3 if you come for it and $6 if it's brought to your room'! This same bottle of water was charged at $4 in the restaurant.
Don't arrive on a Saturday - as we did - as there are no staff available to help, other than the person at the check-in desk. Several in our party had problems with their rooms - including a toilet which did not work - but could not be moved to another room, as these had not been cleaned after the departure of previous guests, 'as it's Saturday'. A family of 4, who had paid for adjoining rooms for themselves and their 2 children, found that the rooms were not even nearby. They found the Front Desk unhelpful and were advised to ask other members of our party to exchange with them.
There was no bathmat. or face cloth. in my room and the towels were so small and thin that drying oneself was like using a rag! The soap for use in the basin, and in the shower, was a disgusting pink concoction, in a container on the wall.
However, the piece de resistance was the food ............
On our first night at the hotel, the buffet was inedible; meat was discoloured and lying in congealed puddles of gravy; the chicken was in a bun - and unrecognisable as chicken; the salads were 'tired' and unappetising; the bread was hard. We were told that we could not have wine, or beer, or coffee in the dining room, but should go to the bar for these. At the Bar, I was told that only red wine could be sold by the glass. If I wanted a glass. then I had to buy a bottle of white. In the morning, at breakfast, the same tired salads appeared again; the bread was hard; no butter was available....
We decided that we could not eat dinner at the hotel, on our 2nd evening. As our group gathered in the lobby, deciding where to go, a manager came to ask if anything was 'wrong' with the food. I'm sure he was then sorry he'd asked! After listening to some complaints, he told us that the 'story' of the previous evening, that wine could not be sold by the glass, was untrue and that it was indeed possible to have a beer in the restaurant. He explained that, as it was a kosher hotel, the food for Saturday had all been prepared on Friday (hence it's awful 'past-sell-by date' look!) and asked us to come in and give them an opportunity to prove they could do better.
We did so - and the food was better than the previous night - but still only lukewarm and rather tasteless. We asked why the same salads were presented once again, as well as the same dessert cakes and fruit that was not 'fresh' and often had gone bad. There was no answer to any of those questions.....
Generally, the (very young) staff were unsmiling and unable, or unwilling to help. Our group was very glad to leave the Plaza and definitely would not stay there again. There must be many other options for non-kosher travellers in Nazareth.
