While in Israel last December with my son and his family ( 2 children) we stayed in Kibbutz Ein Harod Country Lodge. My wife and I stayed in the IRIS suites, and my son, wife and his children stayed in the cabins ( Ofek ha Gilboa). The IRIS suites are quite luxurious. They are large with a private garden at the back with a sitting area and view of Mt Gilboa. They come well equipped ( full kitchen), and many niceties as extras ( bottle of wine, CD played,CDs, flat TV etc.). Breakfast is brought to the room, and it was of high quality, and sufficient not only for breakfast but also for lunch. The original intention may have been for honeymoon couples. There is a large Jacuzzi in the room, as well as a separate bathroom with modern shower with many jets, which I have never experienced before. The area is beautifully landscaped.
The cabin was more rustic, but sufficient for two adults and two children. It has two floors ,full kitchen and ideal for a family vacation. The road into the kibbutz and up to the lodge is undergoing repair and was difficult to drive to, but I assume this is only temporary. The location of Ein Harod is great for exploring the nearby national parks, the antiquities of Beth Shean, and the Galilee. There are many restaurants, both simple and expensive and fancy in the region. The staff were very helpful and friendly. If you go with children there is the opportunity to see the cows being milked, and visit the sheep pens and other branches of the kibbutz. For families staying in the cabins breakfast is served in the communal dining room, for those in the IRIS suites either in the room or dining room. The photographs and description on the web site of Ein Harod are quite accurate.
