“Very welcoming and comfortable accommodation in a great location .”

In general agreement with all the other comments.
This is a great area to tour - Beit Shean and its amazing archaeological site; Beit Alfa for the wonderful mosaic floor in the old synagogue; Nazareth and if you want to avoid staying in Tiberias and the Sea of Galilee very convenient for a visit there too.
We stayed for 3 nights including the weekend (Friday and Saturday) in an Iris lodge. As this is the weekend here the public areas such as the pool are extremely busy.
Dont forget to book at a restaurant for Friday night - the very helpful people at the reception have a list and lots of recommends.
An added bonus (if you need/want) is a high speed internet connection via a lead the hotel supply. I discovered that there is also wireless (when the office is open) - so you can sit in the lovely private garden of your little house and be a really sad person and check your emails!!
Enjoy.

Room Tip: Iris accommodation is for adults only.

“We did not want to leave”

I wanted to arrange something special for my wife and myself in the Gilboa Area. I had been a volunteer at Kibbutz Geva many years ago and really liked the area. I was excited to find something at Ein Harod and checked their web site and the pictures. I was hoping that we would not be disappointed and it would live up to my expectations. It completely surpassed my expectations. When we arrived at the office to check in, my wife said that it looked like paradise. The people at the office said to wait until we see the cottage.

We stayed in one of the Iris Cottages. The cottage had a fish pond in the front and a private porch with a hammock and a backyard with a great view of the valley and Gilboa Mountains. There was a large jacuzzi in the room along with a shower in the bathroom that had water coming out from all angles. We had a a small kitchen that included a microwave and refrigerator with snacks and a place to eat. A delicious and healthy breakfast was brought to the room each morning. The beds were very comfortable and it was very quiet and easy to sleep.

The location was great. It was close enough to most of the places in the north and the Gilboa Mountains area cannot be beat. We were lucky enough to see the famous Gilboa Irises on GIlboa. The staff recommended some great restaurants in the area including Shipudei Hakikar in Bet Sh'ean which was amazing. There is also a nice area to walk around just above the hill from where we stayed. The kids from the kibbutz were cooking hot dogs on a bon fire there.

The staff was very friendly and always ready to help. I cannot say enough to describe how much we liked it there. We did not want to leave at the end of the stay. We definitely want to return.

“Luxury in a Kibbutz”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2011

While in Israel last December with my son and his family ( 2 children) we stayed in Kibbutz Ein Harod Country Lodge. My wife and I stayed in the IRIS suites, and my son, wife and his children stayed in the cabins ( Ofek ha Gilboa). The IRIS suites are quite luxurious. They are large with a private garden at the back with a sitting area and view of Mt Gilboa. They come well equipped ( full kitchen), and many niceties as extras ( bottle of wine, CD played,CDs, flat TV etc.). Breakfast is brought to the room, and it was of high quality, and sufficient not only for breakfast but also for lunch. The original intention may have been for honeymoon couples. There is a large Jacuzzi in the room, as well as a separate bathroom with modern shower with many jets, which I have never experienced before. The area is beautifully landscaped.
The cabin was more rustic, but sufficient for two adults and two children. It has two floors ,full kitchen and ideal for a family vacation. The road into the kibbutz and up to the lodge is undergoing repair and was difficult to drive to, but I assume this is only temporary. The location of Ein Harod is great for exploring the nearby national parks, the antiquities of Beth Shean, and the Galilee. There are many restaurants, both simple and expensive and fancy in the region. The staff were very helpful and friendly. If you go with children there is the opportunity to see the cows being milked, and visit the sheep pens and other branches of the kibbutz. For families staying in the cabins breakfast is served in the communal dining room, for those in the IRIS suites either in the room or dining room. The photographs and description on the web site of Ein Harod are quite accurate.

“Wish I Could Sing its Praises!”

After reading reviews here and at other sites, we opted for 2 nights at Ein Harod. We were very disappointed. While the staff are great, the cabin is not. I expected more. I found the cabin a little more rustic than described and not as clean as I'd hoped. The fruit basket mentioned in a 2009 post must have been discontinued.
The porch and view of the grounds and Mt. Gilboa truly are lovely. We sat out on our porch, petting the stray kitties, each evening.
The staff are very pleasant and did recommend a very nice restaurant. The kibbutz breakfast was fine, not fancy, and people there were helpful and friendly.
I really don't want to leave a negative review. The staff are really very nice and really are trying to make this place work out well. All-in-all, I'd say go into this aware of the issues I found. Of course, we're all different. For us, this was not a place we'd recommend nor return to, but others obviously find it fits their needs well.

“Excellent family accommodation overlooking Mount Gilboa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2010

We stayed at the Ein Harod Country Suites & Guesthouse from the 20th to the 23rd July 2010. My party consisted of two adults and two children (aged 11 and 9 years).

We had a little difficulty finding the Ein Harod Country Suites & Guesthouse at the first attempt. Travelling from the north on the main Afula to Beit She’an road (N71) we should have taken the first turnoff for Ein Harod (Ihud). Instead we ended up taking the 2nd exit for Ein Harod (Meuhad) and found our way to the Museum of Art, which is on the edge of the Kibbutz. A helpful member of staff made a phone call to the Country Suites & Guesthouse reception, gave us directions, and let us in the back entrance to the Kibbutz.

The Kibbutz has three grades of accommodation: terraced accommodation; detached wooden zimmer type cottages with sleeping lofts, Jacuzzis, kitchen and balcony; and the luxury Iris suites. As a family we stayed in the middle range detached cottages, which were perfect for our needs and had an excellent view over Mount Gilboa across the valley. Breakfast was included in the rate and was taken with other Kibbutz members in their dining hall. Food was of course Kosher. We also had access to a large Olympic sized swimming pool.

We found the members of the Kibbutz to be most helpful and accommodating. On our first evening we met the lady who had given directions from the Museum. She invited us for dinner with her family and through this encounter we leant a lot more about life on the Kibbutz.

I would have no hesitation in recommending a stay at the Ein Harod Country Suites & Guesthouse.
