This place is definitely worth a visit and you soul will thank you for it.
After being picked up at the airport there is an hour and a half drive to endure to get you to this tiny fishing town where you board a ferry for a 10 minute journey to paradise. The road is not great, but this travel is certainly rewarded when you arrive on the island.
My wife and I stayed in a beautiful handbuilt bungalow with a mezzanine bedroom. The bathroom featured a shower with a wooden grated floor beneath and on demand gas hot water, which was spectacular. The bungalows had fine wire mesh instead of glass on the windows, which allowed good airflow. The rooms didn't have airconditioning, but it wasn't needed. We had a fridge and glasses in our room and all water was drinkable on the island as it was sourced from a natural spring on the hill.
The food was exquisite and authentic. All meals were provided as part of your rate and everyone ate together. Breakfast was served over a long period in the morning and was cooked at your request with excellent coffee and fruit afterwards. Lunch and dinner were divine with fresh seafood bought from the local fishermen and fruit from the jungle. Especially appealing was apertif hour each night before dinner out on the jetty overlooking the water.
There is lots to do here and no rush to get it done. We went snorkelling over the reef out by the jetty and out to a nearby island. We saw abundant tropical fish, crayfish, a massive puffer fish and a TURTLE!!
We took a short hike up the hill behind the resort through the jungle, which rewarded us with a spectacular panorama of the bay and mainland. Just remember to take your camera, wear real shoes and apply bug repellant before you start as the mosquitos won't be kind.
Make sure you stay at least a week as our 2 nights felt way too short.
This is the ultimate place to get away from it all.
