“Wonderful hotel and the staff can't do enough for you!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2010

Lovely hotel, very plush and great prices too! The staff are great and all take the time to talk to you. Not many Westerners stay here so you do feel a bit like a king, especially at breakfast time when they offer to cook you a special english breakfast - all included in the super low price per night!

The rooms are very large and well furnished. The only downside is that the hotel faces a very large Mosque which is very beautiful but has speakers on top that start up at around 4am for the morning prayer - very interesting but does keep you awake for 30 mins or so!

Not much to do in Medan, we stayed here for 1 night on 3 occasions while we explored Sumatra.

Definately recommend the hotel if you are staying in Medan, it is central to everything and close to the airport too with free transport by the hotel.

Stayed February 2010, travelled as a couple

“Clean n No Frils budget Business htl”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2009

If you just need 1 to 2 nights in Medan city, close to all area, limited budget but need comfy and clean room, this hotel surely suit you, compare to other 3 star htl in medan, this madani has carpet corridor and rooms, and cleanliness is perfect, although the bathroom need more lamp. I think they deserve as 4 star hotel

From this hotel to other part of the city only cost you around Rp10.000 - Rp 15,000 using tricycle motobike taxi, and the driver willing to take you around city tour for only Rp 20.000- Rp25.000 plus tip. Just find and nego with them, they always stand on front of the hotel.

This hotel also just opposite the Yuki shopping centre and supermarket which you may find your basic supplies.

And if you dare to try local food, there are some local favourite melayu / padang restaurant lining up in same street of this hotel.

“Its okay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2007

I stayed in Madani Hotel for one night just as a stopover for the plane trip the next day. I think the lobby looked new and impressive, or tried to be. I don't like the fish pond underneath the stairs in the lobby, though. Its kind of dingy looking and it made me feel sorry for the fishes. The room were clean and nice, but I don't understand why the AC can't be controlled with a remote. You have to turn this knob on the wall near the door. What if it gets too hot/cold? do they expect you to get up from your bed, and turn the knob again, and then get up again once your body adjusted and the temperature felt too hot/cold again? Not smart.
The hallway could use a bit of a change in carpeting, and the TV channels are boring. On the upside, the breakfast was nice, and the staff are friendly.
My biggest disappointment was that they don't have wireless connection in my floor yet, and I didn't get any password/log in code from the reception when I tried to log in from the lobby.
