This is my second stay in the hotel after many years staying in this hotel. I cannot see any improvement in the management and inter department communication in the hotel management after several years.
I was holding an event for my office during this stay. We booked more than 40 rooms for the events and used a medium size meeting room.
First, the sales team of the hotel, in particular one senior sales staff was very rude during the negotiation process, giving deadlines that did not make sense. Then there was lack of coordination between the sales team and F&B that caused some of our staff refused entrance to the restaurant although we have confirmed paying for those staff. Lastly, the most embarrassing one was when their housekeeping staff accused one of our staff in stealing the room telephone. After several heated conversation, later the hotel admits that the phone was never in the room in the first place. Their maintenance dept haven't return the phone and did not inform housekeeping. Such a mess. They send us a written apology letter but that did not made up for the embarrassment that the hotel has caused to my staff because of the accusation.
The food was very average, don't eat in unless you have to. It includes the breakfast which has very limited option and average taste. Plus the small, cramped and smokey restaurant.
The only positive note was on the concierge team which were very helpful and pleasantly nice to my tea, during the course of our stay. The only reason people stay in this hotel, is probably because it is the only 5-star hotel in Makassar.
Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room, it is probably the only nice thing about this hotel
