Great service from warm & courteous staff. Food was great. Lots of activities to do. I really admire the GOs who multi-task as shop asst to teaching basic shadow boxing during daytime and performing in night shows to keep us entertained whole day.

My wife and I recently spent 7 days for our honeymoon at Club Med Bintan and we absolutely loved it. This is our first ever stay at a Club Med resort and we were pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. Firstly, the greeting upon arrival - we could see the GOs waving their arms as our limo approached the foyer. This was then followed by personal greetings from Eng who had already knew our names. We were then given a personalised tour of the resort. There is plenty to do for both adults and kids of all ages and even couples who want their own space - this is one of the very few Club Med resorts in the world to have its own private beach, or you can book yourself in for a spa treatment.
The food here is also amazing. There is a wide variety of food to choose from and all are freshly prepared by the talented chefs. The new year's eve dinner and party was also a spectacular event organised by Merlin (the Village Chief) and her team complete with champagne, fireworks and plenty of dancing!
The GOs were welcoming, cheerful, energetic and a great fun to be with. Not to mention the hard work they all put in for the entertaining shows they put on nightly after dinner. Special mentions to the following who made great efforts to get to know us and made our stay a memorable one: Eng (thank you for your lovely hand made card), Andy, Alicia, Craig, Gid, Greg, Jen, Ben, Sam (Restaurant Manager), Irma (Dining Room staff who was always friendly, polite and smiling), Shaun, Syarif, Agus and Ghazzo. We also like to thank our friendly tour guide Chandra who took us on a tour of Tanjung Pinang.
A fun and unforgettable holiday. We will certainly be back and have already recommended Club Med Bintan to our friends. Once again, to Merlin and her team, thank you for making this a memorable and enjoyable honeymoon for us.

We arrived at club med at Midday the 30th of December 2011 for 7 days. The Welcome we received at the village was so heart –warming. The Manager of the Club med was there to welcome us. We are regulars at club med but that was the first time that the Chief of the Village came to welcome us. We felt so at home as there were 4 South African GO’s there to welcome us. Our 2nd room was not ready but we were told that our room will be ready at 7 pm as the guests were out. We had booked a suite so it was okay to make do in one room. Nic went out of his way to show us to our room. We had a great time joining all the different activities for the day. The kids were having the time of their lives. We went at around 8pm to get our room cards to find out a conflicting story as to why the 2nd room was still unavailable. At around 9pm the hotel service manager came to find us and made sure we got our 2nd room and we were then comfortable. We really enjoyed our week there. The GO’s that really went out of their way to entertain us was Gid (a very sincere man), Leonor so sweet, Nic a very fun guy, Susan a child at heart, Kori a true lady who made my son feel so special, Paola who made sure we got the kids(2nd) room. The food was delicious, so much to choose from at so different times of day. The activities were very well planned. The kid’s shows were very entertaining always including all the kids of the village. The main shows of the evening were superb with Benn showing off his excellent dance moves. The New Year’s Eve Party was fantastic that lasted for 24 hours with a fantastic display of fireworks and a very special New Year’s Eve show. The spa is a must in a very tranquil setting, just so de-stressing. We had the best time ever. There were lots to do at the Club. The only low down is the Club need renovating in the common areas.

We have stayed at various Club Med resorts and Ria Bintan stands out with their great service!! Merlin runs a tight ship and is ably supported by her management team. She is very approachable and goes out of her way to engage with the guests to get feedback and ensure that they are having a good time. The resort itself has a very pretty setting on the coast surrounded by jungle - very exotic. Our connecting rooms were very spacious and clean with ample space for our clothes. The cleaning lady (Ayu?) was very artistic and made incredible arrangements out of the towels - from monkeys swinging off a hanger to a crocodile on the bed. We enjoyed going back to the room in the late afternoon to see what creation was waiting for us.
The facilities and events are similar to the other Club Med's we have been to. If you involve yourself in all the activites you will be entertained from morning to late in the evening.
My twin 12 year old daughters loved the teen club. They were kept busy the whole day. Special mention must be made of Susan, their teen club GO. She really made their stay at Ria Bintan so enjoyable that they want to go back as soon as possible.
The beach at Ria Bintan is made of fine, white powdery sand which sometimes squeaks where you walk on it. Beautiful. The only irritation (nothing to do with Club Med) was that sometimes pollution (small balls of raw crude oil) would wash up on the beach from the ships out at sea. Club Med had this cleaned up quickly but it still irritated us that someone would callously dump oil in the ocean.
As I referred to previously, Ria Bintan is geared to ensuring that you, the guest, has the best stay possible. The GO's are excellent and pro-actively engage with you and ensure that you are having a good time. Special mention must be made of Craig, Andy, Jocel, Marcelle, Sammi, Nic, Gid, Shaun, Jeremy, Mathew, Rina, Gazza etc. All of whom made our stay special and gave us memories we will treasure.
Saving the best to last.......the food was incredible!! Ramses and his team produced dishes that were a gastronomic delight. The presentation was excellent and the food was varied. You have western/European/Korean/Chinese/Japanese/Indonesian ....and the list goes on. The seafood was outstanding. We often had crayfish(rock lobster) and prawns/shrimp. Special mention must also be made of Ramses and Arya who went out of their way to ensure that we were happy with the food. I would also advise that you eat at the other restuarant (the Terrace restuarant, i think). Although some children do go there i would recommend that you and your spouse go there once or twice as a couple to have a romantic meal.

In general Club Med Ria Bintan offers the same facilities as the other club meds however their service and customer centric attitude puts Club Med Rian Bintan head and shoulders above the rest.
