This was my first time at Batam Harris and I must say that our 2-night stay was overall a great experience. The staff are polite and always with a smile. Housekeeping service was prompt. We stayed in the Cabanas, which faces the sea. However, I hope that the hotel will ensure that all the electrical outlets were fully working. There was only one empty outlet available and it was not functioning. So, we had to use the ones designated for the hairdryer and the boiler to charge our mobiles. The AC was not as cold as I would have liked it to be - at times it was a little uncomfortable despite at 16 deg C. It got cooler in the later part of the night only.
I would also suggest to the hotel that they should make the shuttle service to town a free service rather than charging hotel guests. In our case, a one-time free shuttle was included in our package but we had to engage a taxi the next day. As to the breakfast buffet, I wonder if they could improve on the menu? The staples are the porridge, various cereals, eggs, bread and fruits. So the additional was white rice and noodles and one meat dish. I think this area can be improved on.
I had the 1.5 hour massage as part of our package (1 hour massage + 30 mins in the jacuzzi). It is alright but considering that certain spas located in Batam provide a free fetch and send service, the resort's Spa could consider improving its standard? Just a suggestion as I felt that the Spa in town was really quite good and complete. I was told that the resort's Spa did not offer a certain treatments yet such as the candling treatment.
I wish that they had some form of music entertainment like a band. We saw one on Thurs nite, but the next day when we wanted to go, there was none. So, that was too bad.
However, overall, I will recommend Harris Resort for a short getaway. The areas I mentioned above will only make the resort better than it already is, but it is still a good place to go. 2 thumbs up!
Room Tip: Perhaps the rooms on the main hotel building might be a better option?
