Well, we try to book a room in Hotel Surabaya Plaza at 27 november 2011. We came to the reception desk and ask about any free rooms. There was 2 people, a man and a woman. She has started to search a rooms and want to sell them to us, but the man looked at us and told, that there're no available rooms. Yes- i agree- we didn't look like buissness class, we had shorts and tops, cause we were on VACATION. That was really RUDE, and he didn't tell us the price, which was- in fact- a funny small for us (i'm a HR manager, and my colleague works at one of the best consulting companys on the world). We were disguisting about the service. Don't come there if you don't wear suits on vacation!

This hotel has had mixed reviews, but I found it absolutely fine and would certainly stay there again. It is not "state-of-the-art", but perfectly good. The staff are friendly, the restaurant is fairly good and the transers to and from the airport were very efficient. It is non-smoking (with a smoking area!) and non-tipping (although a couple of staff were happy to take tips!). I had no reason to complain about anything whatsoever.

All I can say is, please book and stay in this hotel.
The standard room is junior suite as you can see in my pictures it is super huge room! You can even play soccer in this room :)

This hotel is in the middle of the town and attached to one of a big shopping mall. But there is a Blue Bird taxi pool just outside the hotel, just in case you want to explore the other side of the town, as you may know, Surabaya is the second largest city in Indonesia, it is also possible to do the city walk, since this hotel surrounding by historical and monumental building, but with note if you able to stand of the heat ;) (I'm Surabayanese btw, so I know this town by heart).

The breakfast is good, they serve traditional Surabayanese/Indonesianese food, and also English breakfast.

Public transportation is not recomendable especially if you are not able to speak Bahasa Indonesia, that's why better to take the Taxi, not like in Jakarta, many Taxi company is trustable here in Surabaya.

There is a huge swimming pool and small gym, but sadly it is not attached to the hotel, so you need to walk to the another building just behind the hotel, but this swimming pool actually owned by the hotel, so you can use it for free.

The rooms were satisfactory. The food was average. Did not have full bar service. Next door to a big mall. Compared with other hotels we stayed at in other Indonesian cities, it did not have much character.
