The best thing about this hotel is the view of Semarang from the balcony of its coffee house / restaurant (off the lobby). You can even see as far as the coastal lines and the sea!
A bunch of us actually had the room for day use - in preparation for a friend's wedding being held in the convention centre, just down the corridor. Our room was just next to the reception desk. The room is a normal hotel room with 2 twin beds (which have 100-year-old springs that don't work so sleeping on them overnight will definitely cause your back problems to amplify), tv, sofa, wardrobe, carpet flooring, ensuite bathroom. The bathroom was big enough with marble flooring. Well, basically, the room was your normal hotel room - nothing to shout about, except to complain about the too-soft beds.
We requested for a hairdryer, they complied. Then we requested for an iron and ironing board. They said we could give the suit to them for pressing service - which is chargeable! This is my very first time in an Asian hotel that refuses to give me an iron when I request for it and instead has the audacity to tell me to pay for pressing!
But I do have to say that their staff at reception are extremely polite. I was happy with the check-in process.
On the long corridor from our room to the convention centre, there's a little door leading to a small spa centre. It only has 2 spa suites : 1 couples room with no view, and 1 singles room which has an absolutely gorgeous garden view. The spa is very traditional and no frills, there's not much ambience and it's quite sparse. I had the deluxe treatment (scrub, mask, massage, milk bath) and was very pleased with it, especially the scrub which really polished my skin. And, the whole treatment was at a very very affordable price.
Overall, I loved the view and the spa best from this hotel. The convention facilities were of course good as well - the ballroom was transformed beyond recognition for the wedding, though I think this would be due more to the wedding planners than the venue itself.
But I wouldn't stay here again, because it's far from the city. It seems to be in a high-end residential area.
