We chose the Bali Sukat rooms but sadly could only get availability for Bale Bunga which were only 250,000 pr per night inc breakfast and tax....
We figured if you were going to spend less time in your room anywhere in Bali it would be in Ubud because you would be mostly and hopefully! out and about, so we just went for it!
I enquired about a Mozzi net, which they didn’t provide as standard, but they would provide one for us no problem.! And sure enough it was in place when we arrived!.
Bale Bunga rooms
------------------------
The balconied rooms of Bale bunga (2 floors) are enclosed in a small walled garden, beyond which is a gate which leads to a path where you could meander your way to reception and the pool .
This path backs on a small plot of rice field paddies overlooked by the backs of buildings in a square formation. The rooms are situated away from reception and the higher standard of rooms and are probably the original rooms offered when the hotel was built. We were on the ground floor and the guests on the floor above could be heard so go for a 1st floor room if you can – that way you may even see the small rice paddies beyond the gate!
The rooms are excellent value for money, they are reasonably sized with large king size bed a mini bar/ fridge to store the essential duty free and water! The bed was a little hard but it didnt impair our sleep quality. The rooms have Air con,& ceiling fan a dressing table and mirror.Mozzi repelant plug in also provided.
Bathroom
-------------
The bathroom consisted of a tiled shower area to the left, sink vanity unit in the middle(with no hot water) and open toilet cubicle to the right. The shower could only be described as painful! When we first arrive it was stone cold too but we reported and they fixed immediately but the spray was still like spitting pebbles at high speed! The bathroom was very basic and a bit worn but we took into consideration what we had paid and that these are the older rooms in the hotel.
No tea and coffee facilities but....
----------------------------------------
A thermos of hot water( tea, coffee sachets provided) was refilled at least twice a day, with covered glasses and cups placed on your balcony table.
Breakfast
------------
You had a good choice from the breakfast menu daily (with the exception of one of the dishes because you were staying in the budjet room!) We enjoyed both.
Best of both worlds
-------------------------
The real prize though to be had from this hotel, were the rice field views of all the other rooms/bungalows they offer and the little ducks that waddled about there - such an adorable site! The freshwater swimming pool was lovely too and you got a piece of that action here!,which also looks over the rice fields with stunning views! Sadly, we only used it once and that was out sheer determination (we didnt leave without trying it out) as the rain was incessant! when we were there in January!!They also offer a 'free daily' shuttle service to Ubud central ,given its location in the village of Pengosekan, just outside central Ubud. There are however, a few good restaurants shops and spas right outside the hotel.A very handy wine shop across the road too!Free wifi in lobby only.
Overall experience
------------------------
I Couldnt fault the hotel. It was somewhat higldy pigdly in its layout (it appreared they had added on different rooms/bungalows over the years) but that just added to its charm!
All in all we were just extremely unfortunate in chosing our 3 nights there with the recent relentless high winds and torrential rain in January...three days solid rain really did start to take its toll, so we had to check out and flee to Amed to try to keep our sanity in tact!
We understood we would lose our £, due to the cancellation policy within a week, but we decided to cut our losses....however, if they managed to sell the room on they would refund us.Fair enough!
Would you believe..
------------------------
Within the couple of hours of me sitting in reception frantically, trying to organise our onward travel arrangements and accomodation, the hotel manager came over to me with cash in hand and offered me our £ back,...someone had booked our room! A bonus, yes! but what honesty and good practice! I was touched to say the least! We would never have know any different after leaving there to be fair, but, they chose to be honest which goes a long way with me as im sure it does with many people, even though we were not breaking the bank i might add at just less than GBP20
Room Tip: If i returned i would like to ugrade, but absolutely do not hesitate to book Bale Bunga if either on...
