“Third stay - still one of our favourites - great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

We stayed in Bali Semampai room. We actually prefer the cheaper Bali Adat rooms as they have more character but they always seem to be full :(
Pros
The super friendly gorgeous staff.
The great position - we can walk everywhere
The on call courtesy bus - very handy
Those stunning and very relaxing views of the rice fields
Lovely pool area

Cons
Not a great fan of the rubber matresses
Semampai rooms lack that traditional feel of their cheaper rooms
Breakfast fairly basic

Still a great choice in Ubud - we will be back :)

“I now understand why Green Field Hotel is so popular!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

We chose the Bali Sukat rooms but sadly could only get availability for Bale Bunga which were only 250,000 pr per night inc breakfast and tax....
We figured if you were going to spend less time in your room anywhere in Bali it would be in Ubud because you would be mostly and hopefully! out and about, so we just went for it!
I enquired about a Mozzi net, which they didn’t provide as standard, but they would provide one for us no problem.! And sure enough it was in place when we arrived!.

Bale Bunga rooms
------------------------
The balconied rooms of Bale bunga (2 floors) are enclosed in a small walled garden, beyond which is a gate which leads to a path where you could meander your way to reception and the pool .
This path backs on a small plot of rice field paddies overlooked by the backs of buildings in a square formation. The rooms are situated away from reception and the higher standard of rooms and are probably the original rooms offered when the hotel was built. We were on the ground floor and the guests on the floor above could be heard so go for a 1st floor room if you can – that way you may even see the small rice paddies beyond the gate!
The rooms are excellent value for money, they are reasonably sized with large king size bed a mini bar/ fridge to store the essential duty free and water! The bed was a little hard but it didnt impair our sleep quality. The rooms have Air con,& ceiling fan a dressing table and mirror.Mozzi repelant plug in also provided.

Bathroom
-------------
The bathroom consisted of a tiled shower area to the left, sink vanity unit in the middle(with no hot water) and open toilet cubicle to the right. The shower could only be described as painful! When we first arrive it was stone cold too but we reported and they fixed immediately but the spray was still like spitting pebbles at high speed! The bathroom was very basic and a bit worn but we took into consideration what we had paid and that these are the older rooms in the hotel.

No tea and coffee facilities but....
----------------------------------------
A thermos of hot water( tea, coffee sachets provided) was refilled at least twice a day, with covered glasses and cups placed on your balcony table.

Breakfast
------------
You had a good choice from the breakfast menu daily (with the exception of one of the dishes because you were staying in the budjet room!) We enjoyed both.

Best of both worlds
-------------------------
The real prize though to be had from this hotel, were the rice field views of all the other rooms/bungalows they offer and the little ducks that waddled about there - such an adorable site! The freshwater swimming pool was lovely too and you got a piece of that action here!,which also looks over the rice fields with stunning views! Sadly, we only used it once and that was out sheer determination (we didnt leave without trying it out) as the rain was incessant! when we were there in January!!They also offer a 'free daily' shuttle service to Ubud central ,given its location in the village of Pengosekan, just outside central Ubud. There are however, a few good restaurants shops and spas right outside the hotel.A very handy wine shop across the road too!Free wifi in lobby only.

Overall experience
------------------------
I Couldnt fault the hotel. It was somewhat higldy pigdly in its layout (it appreared they had added on different rooms/bungalows over the years) but that just added to its charm!

All in all we were just extremely unfortunate in chosing our 3 nights there with the recent relentless high winds and torrential rain in January...three days solid rain really did start to take its toll, so we had to check out and flee to Amed to try to keep our sanity in tact!
We understood we would lose our £, due to the cancellation policy within a week, but we decided to cut our losses....however, if they managed to sell the room on they would refund us.Fair enough!

Would you believe..
------------------------
Within the couple of hours of me sitting in reception frantically, trying to organise our onward travel arrangements and accomodation, the hotel manager came over to me with cash in hand and offered me our £ back,...someone had booked our room! A bonus, yes! but what honesty and good practice! I was touched to say the least! We would never have know any different after leaving there to be fair, but, they chose to be honest which goes a long way with me as im sure it does with many people, even though we were not breaking the bank i might add at just less than GBP20

Room Tip: If i returned i would like to ugrade, but absolutely do not hesitate to book Bale Bunga if either on...

“Good on paper, a bit disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

I decided to stay at Green Field based on tripadvisor.com reviews, as I wanted accommodation close to the Yoga Barn. I had been to Ubud three times previously but had never stayed at Green Field. When I booked, the only accommodation available was a deluxe (Bali Adat) room. On arrival the staff upgraded me to Bale Semampai. The view from the room was lovely but I was disappointed in the room. It was quite dark and sparsely furnished. The bed was really hard and I had a poor night's sleep. The floors are tiled and become really slippery when wet. After I voiced my concerns about the room to the staff they moved me to a Bali Adat room which was actually nicer, although the bed was still hard. I think it was good also as it was closer to the reception area, so could get a very weak wifi signal (couldn't get any down the back where my first room was). I think for a hotel of this price to not have wifi in the rooms is disappointing.
Another reason I'd decided to stay here was the pool, which looked lovely in the website photos. While it was lovely looking, the pool is quite small. There are three under cover areas next to the pool, which when I arrived were taken up by couples and families. There is no shelter from the sun if you don't get one of these areas.
The staff at this hotel were really friendly and helpful. A great feature was that they offer free pick up and drop off from places around town. This was really handy. The breakfast was quite nice and it was lovely to be served in my room where I could gaze across the rice paddies.
I did not feel very comfortable overall at this hotel. I'd intended to stay for four nights but ended up moving after two. There were a lot of families with young children there when I stayed and perhaps the hotel is better suited to their needs, rather than those of a solo traveller like me.

“Amazing views from our balcony”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

We spent each afternoon sitting on the balcony watching the workers tend the rice fields, the ducks are an absolute joy to watch.
The room was basic but comfortable, I did not particularly like the bathroom, the shower was hand held which was inconvenient.
The staff were just lovely, so friendly and professional.
Breakfast was delicious with home made bread which we really enjoyed.
Pool was very nice but we found it a bit cool in June to swim!
Pundi Pundi restaurant down the road to the left was well worth a visit.

“Paradise, all budgets can find a room here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

My fiance and I found this place 2 days before we were scheduled to be in Bali. We did a lot of research of the area since this was our first time visiting, and we only had 3 days to spend on this beautiful island. Kuta seemed to touristy & Sanur was not quite the remoteness we were searching for after spending 6 days in over saturated Patong Beach Thailand, and 6 days in the Philippines with family day in and day out. Ubud seemed like just the place to be, but after searching a lot we weren't finding much available since we were booking last minute. Greenfield wrote back to our email right away, and though they didn't have the room price we wanted, were willing to accommodate us any way they could. They offer rooms at a budget price of $25 US with a garden view and every price up from there offers an amazing & peaceful view of beautiful Rice Paddys. We opted to upgrade and stayed in an exquisite room that was more than we could have ever bargained for. The staff was more friendly than I have ever experienced & the complimentary breakfast in the morning was superb. Eggs any way you like, or nasi or mi goreng for those looking for an authentic balinesian meal. All this accompanied by tea or coffee & fruit with yogurt. No wifi in your rooms, but the lobby is cozy and looks over a lily pond and here you can get free wifi. The lobby also offers books in many different languages that you can borrow to read while you are visiting. The hotel is just a 5 minute walk to the Monkey Forest, and about a 20 minute walk to Town Center Ubud. If you didn't want to walk, the hotel offers free shuttles anywhere in Ubud for free until 10pm. The salt water pool is so refreshing and also offers a spectacular view of the Rice paddys too. Wish we could have stayed longer, but we know where to come back to on our next trip to Bali!
