I arrived in Ubud without any reservations and came across this place where I was invited to take a look, and I ended up staying 3 nights. As with so many places in Bali, it doesn't look like much from the street, but when you get back into the gardens where most of the rooms are, it's really pretty. The place was nearly full, so I paid around $35/night for a large air conditioned room (#7) overlooking the pool. It was a little tired, but it was plenty comfortable and very quiet. Breakfasts were good but small (banana pancake is the best option). Staff were great. The no toilet paper and no towel thing is a bit odd, but when I asked at the desk they gave some to me straight away. For $4/day I also rented a motorbike from them to tour the volcanoes and drive a loop to Gilimanuk, and it gave me no troubles. I'm sure that there are better places in Ubud to stay if you hunt them down, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ubud Terraces.
