The location is beautiful, the resort feels like a Balinese village, we stayed in January in a small villa on the hill, which had a beautiful view from the verandah and felt very private. A/C was efficient and quiet but I preferred sitting on the verandah. Bathroom has a Western-style bathtub with shower and with an adjacent open-air shower, which we liked a lot. The four-poster bed has its own lighting and a mosquito net all around, comfortable mattress, only the pillows were harder but I asked for a soft one at reception. Beware of hairdryer, some are not good quality and may short-circuit. Room had a safe, big enough for a small laptop. Spa has a lovely location but the rooms need upgrade and staff needs professional training - I would not bother with a massage or treatment. But the pool is lovely and open-air restaurant has an OK breakfast (nothing special, but you can order local dishes, which are more exciting). For the rest of the meals, I recommend taking the hotel shuttle to Ubud. The ride takes about 25 minutes (you cannot walk it), it goes 5 times a day for free (at 10am, 2pm, 4pm, 8pm and 10pm) and the pick-up is reliable. There is free wi-fi in the restaurant, it worked well. The hotel picked us up at the airport, there was a driver with our name waiting, but check if airport transfer includes also way back (not always). I organized our own tours, not using hotel services, and was very happy with it. You can get a cheap taxi in Ubud on the main street and organize tours and pick-ups with the driver. The room has a small coffee maker but I recommend that you bring your own coffee/tea if you are used to a strong/good stuff. The TV is older and small but who goes to Bali to watch TV anyhow. If you want a quiet place to recharge, you'll love it. If you'd like to be in the center of action, it is too far out.
