We were initially overbooked at another resort and they rebooked us here. We were overwhelmed with the beauty of the resort, the fantastic food, and the wonderful and very attentive staff, who called us by name and always asked if we needed anything. The view was to die for with the river below, the greenness all around, and the rice patties on the other side of the valley. The room was beyond fantastic! Big canopy bed, a huge bathtub, and even an iPod player in the room. The pool outside the room with your own personal covered cabana was a lovely way to relax after a day of climbing or exploring, and the main pool was beautiful as well.

The staff booked a trip to hike Mount Butur for us, and while we didn't see the sunrise due to clouds, the encounters with the wild monkeys more than made up for it. We also went on a bike ride through the town, arranged by the hotel, which was a perfect morning activity. The hotel also provided transportation into town and back.

This place is absolutely beautiful and if you want a nice, relaxing, luxuriant stay, you must stay here!

Pros: we stayed at the kupu kupu barong ubud for 2 nights and we were upgraded to the duplex villa. the staff was excellent, very attentive but not invasive. breakfast overlooking the ayung river was stunning. complimentary yoga classes in the early morning was very refreshing. and the spa at the mango tree was so therapeutic that it made me fall asleep!

Cons: there aren't any taxis in ubud so it was a bit hard to get around, but the hotel provided car service which had a fixed rate and they could drop us off anywhere in ubud. can't just walk out and walk around, definitely need a car to get around.

Stayed here for 7 nights and had wonderful time. The "jungle" location of the Kupa Kupa Barong was spectacular and made such a change from a beach holiday. The Duplex Villa we stayed at was clean, really spacious with large comfartable bed and huge bathroom with all the amenities expected of a hotel of this class. The meals in the restuarant were excellent which overlooks the stunning viewa of the valley. The staff were very courteous, helpful and attentive, but at times the attention of the staff could be a bit overwhelming for my personal taste. The resort is set on the side of a valley and may not be suitable for those with mobility issues. I would not hesitate to recommend the Kupa Kupa Barong and would certainally stay there again

We went to stay at the Kupu Kupu Barong after our a very disappointing few days at a hotel in Nusa Dua. We booked at the last minute over New Year and the staff were really helpful and booked us into a stunning Villa.

The Villa was beautifully decorated and really comfortable. The view of the forest opposite was ever changing and breathtaking. The bathroom was utterly gorgeous and wonderfully roomy.

We loved it and would certainly go back!
