“A lovely place with a nice swimming pool”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

I was there with a friend some time ago. The place was really beautiful and clean. We had a room at the second floor of a Bungalow. The surrounding area has some bars and clubs, but the Dewi Sri Bungalows is very quiet. It also has a not-so-deep swimming pool, made more for relaxing than swimming. It was so nice to stay in water at night.

“loved it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

have to admit i was there few years back and don't know how is it now, but at that time it was amazing! simple place but very friendly staff. concept and the garden are great, swimming pool is sweet. bungalows are cool 2 level ones with open air bathrooms and fantastic chill out lounges on ground floor. it was already visible at that time that place needs better maintenance, but it was still nice. fresh flower petals on the pillow daily.

“Total mismanagement”

First of all, all the good reviews that you see for this hotel are because people are confusing it with Sri Bungalows which is another hotel on Monkey forest Road. We booked it for two night but stayed only one ... It was pretty cheap though...IDR 200 per night for an A/C room, compared to nearby hotels. Now for my experience.. Bathtub looked filthy...wasn't enough light in the bathroom so you couldn't really tell how filthy it was. The bed sheet and towels were old and worn out...

The only positive was that the staff was courteous..( I think this is applicable for most of the places i lived in bali/Ubud)

“No Phone, No Dryer, insects all over Deluxe room”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2010

We stayed 2 nights in this hotel after moving over from another area in Bali.
The group of us booked their Deluxe Bungalows but were given a non deluxe experiences.

I was given the furthest bungalow and it was a good 5 to 8 minutes from the reception.
As usual, I will look through the room and check out the amenities. Found a file for room service but then there is no phone in the room. There is also no flask for hot water and no hair dryer. This means that if you want room service, you will have to walk to the reception to request for it, which is the same for the hot water.

Our bungalow's bathroom is semi attached to the room. You will have to open a backdoor to a small open air balcony and the door to bathroom is at the other end.
This causes inconvenience as you will have to bring all your stuff to the bathroom and get dressed there after your wash up as people can see the balcony.

To make things worse, the balcony is constantly infested with ants and other insects. We have to make our way across trails of ants whenever going to the toilet. Even the clothes rack at the balcony is part of their trail.

I am considered myself lucky as the other bungalow that my friends were staying keep having black out. there was 1 night, there was like a black out for 2 hours. On the other night, there was 2 blackout and when confronting the reception, we were told that the cables are faulty and the engineer will come in the morning. In the end they managed to get the power back but do remember that every blackout you will have to walk to the reception as there is no phone.

I understand that this is a budget stay but i believe budget stay will at least have the basic service.

“Basic hotel with friendly staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2010

We stayed three nights at Sri Bungalow in Ubud. We have two children who enjoyed the pool, though it isn't anything too spectacular. The staff was quite nice and greeted us with smiles. The grounds were well kept. Breakfast was limited.

Location is good if you want to be in the heart of Monkey Forest Road. Attached internet cafe provided decent connections, otherwise the WIFI in the room was slow. A bit noisy in the lower level rooms, as we had teenagers upstairs of us making lots of noise. No street noise though, which was nice.

Again, seemed a bit expensive for what you get, but comparable to other guest houses/bungalows in the area.
