“serene”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 March 2011

This hotel is about 15 minutes drive from Ubud Central. Not to worry as they provide free ride to town and free pickup too.
Central of Ubud can be noisy so, if you are looking for a quiet place to stay, just hanging out with your family and friends, read book, swim in the pool, watch CD - then this is the place for you.
But, if you need to be constantly in touch with starbucks, walk to the ATM machine, spa, market etc - then please look for those hotels/inns at the monket forest street.
All in all, I enjoy my stay, the staffs are friendly, and for the best part - the hotel staff give me a bouquet of flower as a birthday gift. It was my birthday, when I stayed there. Well, that means a lot to me.

“Quite nice hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2011

We just stayed for a night and we love it except for the fact that it's quite far from the market or Ubud centre. Walking out of the hotel, you don't find so many things except wood carving galleries and several restaurants. Still, the room's nice, breakfast is so so (coffee's not so good) and staff is friendly.

“Not For Our Family”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2011

When we got to the Taman Harum Cottages we assumed we where close to Ubud town, we where very surprised to find we where a good 20 min by the free shuttle bus, that is only available on booking so if someone has booked for the day you are stuck at the hotel with nothing to do. With 2 boys aged 9 & 7 this is not so relaxing. Our rooms also flooded when it rained so we had 3 Balinese moping all the floors. Breakfast was average and not a rice field in site unless you travel 1 hour away.

“Staff are amazing!!!! Nice hotel...a little far from town.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2011

After traveling through SE Asia for several months I found this to be a very nice hotel. The pool is lovely, the gardens are also nice around the grounds of the hotel. We had a 3 bedroom villa which was nice, the 2 downstairs rooms were air conditioned but the upstairs room was not. The villa was open to the outside in many places where the ceiling did not meet with the walls, especailly upstairs. This meant that there were lots of crawling visitors. This wasnt really a problem for our stay until the last day when both myself and my friend downstairs had giant spiders the size of my open palmed hand hiding in our clothes!!! A bit unsettling, BUT this is Bali and there are all kinds of things like that here...it's just part of nature I guess? :-/ The free shuttle to and from town was a lifesaver as it is far from town and taxis would have been expensive. Overall the Staff made the stay great they were so helpful!

“Good Place but One Minus !!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2011

We stayed at the Taman Harum for 10 days for some peace & quiet away from the noise & traffic of Ubud.
I'll get the One Negaitive out of the way first. I was very surprised on reading the reviews that this 'issue' has not be flagged before?
You are located in the area of MAS- The wood carving area. Immediately adjacent to the Taman Harum is a Wood Cutter, his 100+ decibel two stroke chain saw - which can start anytime from 08:00 to 17:00 - 7 days a week. His work is sporadic and to be fair it is not constant. If however you wish to have a 'relaxing' time by the pool, this noise can be very annoying to say the least.
Everything else was very good, Staff (especially Mr. Charlie), Food in the restaurant, gardens and pool in tip-top condition. Wi-Fi a bit hit and miss but mainly OK.
For the price you are paying a nice place, and if you are out and about, then the Wood Cutter will not be too much of an issue. The 'free' transport' as mentioned several times, is very good. We tried the 'local' ethnic' food stall across the road, and that also was tastey and very good value for money.
We found the recommended restaurants (Lonely Planet et-all) to be a tad on the expensive side, and they 'nearly' all sold the same menu.
'Try' the Babi Guling' (Suckling Pig) (Smallish portion) locally - must get there before 13:00 or sold out.
We stayed our 10 days and persevered the the 'Wood Cutter'
