We found this place on Tripadvisor, and despite we have been to Ubud many times before, we never went to this street. It is such a funny street, with all those names in the stone foodpath, much more cosy than Jl. Monkey Forest, where we usually went.
We made a reservation for a Sundays evening buffet, and could even make some changes in the menu. When we arrived, we saw other people sitting upstairs, but after some confusing about our reservation, we got a place downstairs, where they prepared a buffet especially for us.
It was a typical Balinese atmosphere, a lot of people around, coming and leaving the homestay, some kids and old men walking around, some animals....Sounds a bit strange, but is was a cosy atmosphere. Suddenly a man came to our table, and introduced himself as Mr. Darta. This was the person I had the email conversation with, I though before it was a young lady. He spoke Dutch rather well, so very funny for ous kids, he learned it from the time he went to university to become a judge. Later on, after finishing the buffet, he took us back to our hotel in Mengwi, and we had lovely conversations with him in the car. He could tell beautiful stories.
He couldn't believe we came all the way from Mengwi to eat at his place, he was so modest. For us an unforgettable experience, Thanks Mr. Darta
