Ciliks Beach Garden, Villa West.
With our second visit to Ciliks Beach Garden beginning of August 2006, we were delighted that this time we could stay in Villa West. Two years ago, we enjoyed the cozy Lumbung, but Villa West is a holiday dream: Everything is tastefully arranged in the spacious airy main room, luxuriously large for two. Wonderful pieces of art from Indonesia and China and impressive photos tell from the travel of the owner. We were allowed to use the many travel books from the private library as well as CDs from his collection. Beside the large bed there is a large sofa (might be used for a third person), table and chairs, and a desk overlooking the tropical garden outside.
A separate room (walk-in closet) provides ample space for the luggage, including a safe box and a refridgerator. The open Bali bathroom was simply wonderful; lush vegetation next to the shower and a water basin, pieces of Asian handycraft and art as well as decorative shells adore shelves and walls.
The partially covered terrace is the resting place par excellence. For reading, for dreaming, for snacking, for breakfast – thought we enjoyed the luxury of having an own bale in the garden for all our meals. The tropical garden right beside the beach is a constant wonder of growing, blooming, and decaying. It is very well maintained and simply beautiful.
The Villa is extremely clean and very well maintained, sheets and towels get changed frequently, though fresh towels are also provided whenever you want, e.g. for swimming, for the lawn chairs. Room and food service was attentive, though discrete, and very friendly, laundry service is available anytime and – on request – massage can be arranged.
The food provided is great. The breakfast is substancial – warm and/or cold – and healthy with a lot of fruits. Whenever you happen to be on the premises early afternoon, a snack is served. For dinner wonderful Asian cuisine is served, everything is fresh and is bought the very same day from local markets and selected providers – if you want to extent your own cooking experiences, they’ll tell you all the secrets.
The owner is extremely knowledgeably concerning all tourist (and insider) destinations in Bali and many interesting places on the neighboring islands of Java and Lombok. Support for arranging travel to more distant destinations is given as well as participation in traditional Balinese ceremonies.
Ciliks Beach Garden is a relaxing and individual vacation resort away from the tourist crowds, which we can wholeheartedly recommend as a unique Bali experience.
