“Perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2009

Perfect location, perfect staff, perfect food and perfect vacation. Not a good spot if you are looking for a busy nightlife or surfing. Not a good spot if you want a busier city with shopping. However, if you are looking for an out of the way spot with a staff willing to bend over backwards to help you, great food, private beaches and excursions and a chance to see the "out of the way" Bali; this is the spot for you.

It does take a while to get there, so be patient it is worth the wait;

“Simply the best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 April 2009

Villa Frangipani is real paradise on Earth.

The villa itself and the surroundings was a place of real relaxation and
unity with nature. Tejakula, being far from main tourist routes and
attractions, is remembered for open hearted and kind people. And Cilik,
Ketut and all people at the villa are absolute treasures!!! Believe me, I
know what I'm talking about. They were happy to fulfill any (and I mean ANY)
our request. Pure paradise for relaxation, reading and just staring at the
sea. Our trips around the island with Cilik, Ketut and Goody were absolutely enjoyable. Food was great as well, simple but so very tasty that we really tried to cover all menu!! Overall Bali experience is always remembered for open-hearted kind people. We really lack this experience in overcrowded big cities. Sounds of the sea when you are getting into dream is something you always remember...

“Heaven on Earth”

Today we have just returned from our first trip to Bali. We spent the first 9 days of our 18 day trip around Ubud and Kuta, but the highlight of our trip was 9 blissful days at Cilik's Beach Garden Tejakula.
We have travelled extensively for both business and pleasure, but nothing prepared us for this place.
We had read the reviews and it was these that prompted us to book our stay at Cilik's. But the reviewers have not done the place justice.
Firstly we were met promptly at our previous hotel in Kuta and transported through the lush countryside, over the mountains by Ketut the manager at Tejakula (a most competant and safe driver over somewhat treacherous terrain at times), a 3 hour trip.
On our arrival we were lead over a pebble path through the tropical gardens to Villa Frangipani, our home for the next 9 days. As we rounded the last bend our first view was of expanses of lawn and garden leading down to the black volcanic stone beach.
Here was paradise, this is what we had been seeking, but never found. A secluded retreat, very peaceful, comfortable and idylically located.
Our villa comprised a large bed drapped in a mosquito net (very tropical and inviting), a day bed situated by an opening window to lie and read or contemplate the ocean until the inevitable drooping of one's eyelids made us succumb to a lazy nap, a large desk and chair again situated by a large window, a small but very adequate library, a great collection of cds for the stereo system and a wonderful outdoor bathroom. No TV what bliss!!!!
But although the setting was to us unsurpassable it was the attention we received from all the staff that just overwhelmed us.
Our every need was met (often before we realised we had that need) by staff who went about their work in an unobtrusive manner, rarely seen but always appearing whenever you seemed to need them.
Our meals were an even bigger surprise (as Cilik's state they do not have an extensive menu due to fluctuations of local availability of some produce), we did not find that at all. The menu was somewhat large for such a small establishment (just 2 villas at Tejakula) varied, interesting and totally satisfying. I even took the opportunity to visit the kitchen as they were preparing our dinner to receive instruction on the preparation of these dishes it was interesting and fun.
We spent our days either exploring with Cilik or Ketut, relaxing in our bale by the ocean, watching the local fisherman in their little outriggers, the local people gathering stones along the beach and generally just kicking back and enjoying this wonderful location.
On our last day our daughter and her famil (who had been staying on the other side of the island) came to spend the last day with us at Cilik's before we all made the long trip back to the airport to fly home to Australia.
We decided to organise a lunch of the dishes we had most enjoyed during our stay to share with our family. To say it was a success is an understatement, the meal (served over several hours) was beyond our expectations, the staff more attentive than ever (if that is at all possible) and the atmosphere between us, the staff and the place on this day is indescribable.
To add to our pleasure we had organised a young Masseur who we had been using during our stay to come and give our family a taste of the pleasures we had become accustomed to. Again this was an outstanding success and if you are staying at Cilik's make absolutely sure you get Komang to attend you, he has hands to die for.
As we prepared to leave all the staff who had attended us over the last 9 days were there to bid farewell, including to our surprise young Komang, who had made a point of staying after he had completed the massages a couple of hours before, we were more than touched.
It is on this note that I commend and recommend CBG Tejakula to those who wish an idyllic location, wonderful Balinese food and hospitality and true taste of rural Bali at its best.
Thanks to Ketut, Komang, Cilik, Made, Ketut, Wayan, Komang and Ketut's 3 lovely little girls for a memorable holiday.
To Tom, Nancy & Rudiger we thank them for their vision, it truely works.
And yes we are booking again......................how could we not.....

“A great place to relax”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2008

We were very pleased with our 4 days stay at Ciliks Beach Garden despite reading references to "suitable for rich relatives."

It is a quiet spot with 4 places to stay and you are made welcome by friendly, attentive staff. The traditional lumbung and octagaonal houses are set in beautiful grounds next to the ocean and we weren't disturbed by road noise. The place was clean, grounds well maintained and the delicious, freshly prepared food was served on our individual patio.

It was very relaxing just swimming, taking a sunrise trip on the outrigger, and having excellent massages on the spot. If you want to explore the area, there are many options and capable staff can drive you to visit the volcanic area, lakes, temples, rice fields and other cultural activities.

Visit North Bali for a genuine Balinese experience away from tourist crowds.

“A perfect hide-away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 June 2008

Cilik's Beach Garden is an almost perfect idyll in the non-touristy part of North Bali, a few kilometers east of Singaraja. The two villas and two more modest houses are set in a lush tropical garden that adjoins the sea. I was staying in the "Octagonal", a very good deal at 60 Euro per night for a single: the big room and the open bathroom done in very good taste, an own balé to sit and eat, a little lawn by the shore. The service is impeccable, the cuisine very good. The only drawback is that noise from the street can sometimes be heard also at night. It is by no means awful, but the sensitive should bring a pair of earplugs.
