“Four Star but dipping to borderline three and half star!”

Strengths: Great beach. Safe for children/swimming. Walking distance to Bali Collection Gift shops and cheaper restaurants. Creative gardens. The gardens are clean. Staff are friendly but not necessarily helpful. Rooms are spacious. Lovely pools. Great buffet breakfast.Excellent AC in the rooms.Weaknesses: Rooms are not cleaned properly. There is a distinct smell in the shower. The toilets under basin are not cleaned from previous guests. The bolts within the toilet seat are caked with old urine stains! We put detergent soap on the toilet floor to get rid of the smell. Tea and coffee making facilities are ok - but we were only supplied with one english breakfast tea per day!! and the supply of white sugar was hit and miss! There is no table for the kettle! The day bed was dusty and unclean. The rooms overlook a pond...major mosquito habitat...the hotel does not provide mosquito coil burners - so be prepared to be dined on by mossies!! The staff at breakfast are over familiar..one told us how she married a Scot 20 years ago and was a victim of DV which made her suicidal! We were on holiday did not want to hear sad stories. Food (other than breakfast) in the hotel is over priced and not value for money! This includes pool snacks.

“Great hotel for a short break”

Recently stayed at this hotel in a club room, great location, excellent food and friendly staff. We decided to stay at Nusa Dua this time as a change from Ubud on our last trip. We were very impressed on arrival as we were directed to the Grand Club check in which is away from the main check in. Everything was very somooth - no but or ifs here. When we got to the room, we were immediately aware of an odour - nothing offensive but more like the room has been closed for sometime and not been aired. We stayed at the resort the whole time we were there including eating in. This hotel is huge and great for walking in the evening to build up an appetite. We tried just about all the restaurants except Salsa Verde, ran out of evenings to try. The dinner and show was excellent - abit on the pricey side but considering you had a buffet dinner (nothing fantastic about the food) and a live cultural show (excellent and well worth it), you can't complain. My only criticism is not of the hotel but the other patrons. Being a buffet dinner and cultural show, it had a huge contingent of tour groups and their aim was basically to eat (with no consideration of manners that there are others) and then they just left, even before the show began. The few that stayed to watch the show were rude and ill mannered as they talked (loudly) over the singing and dancing which was very off-putting. Positives - definitely the club room and all its added extras especially the club pool - very quiet and away from the rest of the hotel, the restaurants (loved the Babi Kecap at the Garden Cafe) and the well looked after grounds and lily ponds. Negatives - Nampu was abit on the expensive side (we tried the tepanyaki), rooms is due for a renvoation as they were starting to look tired, house keeping could be better (they did the basics in replacing toileteries / towels but did not see the marks on the wardrobe mirror, did not want to think what they could be so I cleaned them off myself after the third day). Overall, great holiday - friendly staff (club lounge anyway) and nothing was too much trouble.

Room Tip: Definitely go for the club rooms - well worth it for the extra money.

“Excellent place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

We stayed at the hotel in July 2011 (for my Birthday) with my friends. We liked the hotel veru much! Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean with good bed. Staff was always polite and helpfull. Private beach was fantastic! Food for breakfast was delicious and tasty. There is mall across the road where we had dinner, cheap and tasty.

“Can we talk about spa VILLAS?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

I recently stayed for three nights at the Grand Hyatt Bali and am so impressed with every aspect of this gorgeous, gigantic hotel. Okay, so if you want the seclusion and quiet of your own private pool villa, you'll probably want to look elsewhere. But, the accommodations are beautifully and tastefully decorated and you really don't feel like you just in any random hotel room in any random city in the world. I splurged for a Club Room, which includes a buffet breakfast, afternoon tea, and a nighty happy hour that can double as a light dinner at the Club lounge. It was more than worth the extra cost.

But, that's not all that the hotel has to offer. There are surfing lessons, a gym, multiple pools (one private to Club guests), multiple restaurants, a kids "club," beautiful beaches with plenty of lounge chairs either in full sun or tucked up under banyan trees for shade, and an beautiful spa.

The spa... Let's talk about that for a moment. When you first arrive, you're treated to a welcome beverage while you fill out the health/preferences sheet. There's water all around in a tranquil setting that has you relaxed from the instant you arrive. Then, you are escorted to your private spa treatment villa. That's right, villa. Not room. Villa. (Can you tell I was impressed?) The treatments were divine, the service was impeccable, and the price was around what you would expect to pay at only an average spa in the States. If you visit the hotel, I highly recommend treating yourself at least once while you're here.

The staff at all times was delightful and accommodating, bending over backwards to make sure that I had a wonderful experience. I could also tell that this wasn't just for me, but for all of the guests. The one complaint that I had was the numerous people wandering around the beach selling beads and sarongs and paintings and such. Every five seconds, someone was walking up, attempting to make a sale. Granted, in true Bali fashion, nobody was pushy and each person would walk away once you said you weren't interested. However, there were so many that it was still slightly annoying. I was there in the off-season (Dec-April), so it might have just been that there weren't enough hotel guests to disperse the number of sellers.

All-in-all, it was a wonderful few days and I actually thought about canceling my few days in Java so that I could stay a bit longer at the Hyatt. I definitely plan to come back and stay here in the future.

Room Tip: If you can afford the splurge, ocean-view rooms are absolutely worth the cost.
