We stayed and Grand Sinar Indah for the second time in Feb 2012. We had a couple of hiccups at the start but overall we had a great experience. I organised a transfer from the airport this time for 200.000 RP, which never met us at the airport. I didn't mind so much because I hadn't paid for it up front and the taxi booth at the airport only charges 55.000 RP so it's cheaper anyway. They apologised to us upon arrival.
Upon arrival our bags were immediately carried by the staff. Our deluxe room was immaculate upon check in with everything we needed. The only thing was that the balcony door was broken and wouldn't close/lock properly. I raised this with reception we went to have dinner and it was fixed when we returned an hour later. Awesome service there.
The rooms have TV, bar fridge, hair dryer and toiletries etc. I would only suggest getting a room on the second floor as there were some problems with the pipes on the ground floor last time we stayed (I'm not sure whether this has been fixed). Our room was facing north and was quieter than the rooms facing the pool but your view is not great.
Breakfast is of a good standard. They make eggs to order, I just had scrambled eggs and bacon and found it really good. There's also a buffet with Indo food, fresh fruit, juice, tea and good Bali coffee.
The staff are extremely friendly at this hotel and will go out of their way to make you happy. Sometimes there may be some english barriers but overall the standard of english is good. If the staff member is having trouble (usually with more complex requests -bookings etc.) they will grab someone else right away.
The pool is great and is usually quiet. It's got a swim up bar that serves pretty much whatever you want. They will even help you order McDonalds delivery for those hung over days by the pool. The pool gets plenty of sun. I read an earlier review which said it doesn't and I'm not sure why.
Overall I rate this hotel very highly for the price. Reception is generally open to negotiation in relation to this. I have travelled all over the world and stayed in many places, good and bad. I would definitely stay there again as the hotel is a fine example of Balinese hospitality.
Room Tip: Deluxe room. North facing on second floor for quiet or south facing for view.
