“A Memorable Experience as promised”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

Well, what should I say... I was honestly a little sarcastic with the negative reviews earlier but What happened was PHENOMENAL!
Right from the Booking where Ms Sandhya Gupta ensured all was well, directions by Mr Arun Gupta; with the lunches with those Honnet type chirping birds; it was all a lovely experience. The only part was I will have to travel back to Shaheen again in order to enjoy the picnic and I am not complaining about that at all.
Lovely experience and you will forget Hotels for a while and hold on to watch the beauty of nature and how a wonderful well-maintained property can make it worthwhile. Yeah, I am considering moving our offices there :-)

Room Tip: Anyday MASTER should be the choice. Was there and it was amazing.

Me and two of my friends from school wanted to go on an all girls trip for a really long time…we choose shaheen bagh for the same and indeed we had a trip of a lifetime !!
Incredible location, wonderful service and a lot of personal attention. Located on the banks of the river tons Shaheen bagh is a unforgettable getaway from the busy life of the city for those longing to experience the serenity of long walks-ways, lush greens and lazy evenings at the same time looking for short get away for a little adventure. In the three days we spent there we enjoyed everything from bird watching to river walking on the beautiful river tons along side the resort
The resort has a huge collection of of dvds to choose from, it’s a perfect place to rest and catch up on your reading as well!!
In the calmness and coolness of this beautiful English styled house we found modern amenities and courteous services. The staff was extremely helpful , The food was superb, the room was lovely and the view amazing. Anytime we needed something, we had it brought to us immediately.
Its a 10 on 10 kind of place...indeed a home away from home!!

“Home away from Home”

Shaheen bagh is an institution where people are cared for.
The experience was truly heart fulfilling and memorable. We required a place where we could relax away from the rigmarole of the day to day metro life, and Shaheen Bagh provided that getaway and solace
we booked Suite and green room
The place is off the main road and it has to be if you would like to be away from the city hustle bustle
we were greeted by the lighted diyas in the rooms and moment we entered the tastefully done property, we had a feeling that we would enjoy our next three days out here
Starting from early morning till late at night it was like a festive atmosphere and still maintaining the peaceful serenity of the location
Every minutest detail was taken care of, and my wife who is on wheel chair had actually no issues in adjusting to the new environment
The Food , all the 3 meals on the 3 days had no repeats , and we are vegetarians, so it was hats off to the chef, the young guy, the support staff Sanjay, Sukhdev and Maali were helpful
Bonfire was lit on all the 3 nights, and on the last day none of us wanted to leave Shaheen Bagh not even my 2 school going kids, they thoroughly enjoyed the stay and are ready to come back again, clearly indicating that place has something to behold even the young kids
The reason for attachment to this place and the 3 superlative nights we had is ONLY ONE, the duo owners of the property Ms Sandhya and Mr Arun Gupta, such personal touch and care is rarely seen in this part of the country,
They made sure that nothing is missed by us and once again i believe "The ache for home lives in all of us, the safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned." Shaheen bagh falls in this category solely because of Sandhya Ji and Arun JI
We MISS YOU BOTH
best wishes to you always and thank you for all your attention and care
regards
Piyush , Chinu , Ananya and Himaghn

Room Tip: Suite and green room were perfect as we wanted to be on the same floor, pool side room is another go...

Beautifull hotel,Nice rooms,Excellent food,Very good book and movie collection,a bit expensive though. It is a good place for relaxation but if you are looking to explore the city, its not a good place then. The only negative is the road to the hotel ,which is really bad.Hotel is located in a secluded place, which is more good than bad.It is just steps away from the river. The cook makes excellent food. You can even request for a specific cusine.

“Beautiful stay for the arty traveler!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

This was our second visit to Shaheen Bagh. We visited 3 years back in Oct and again now in Oct2011. It is a beautiful home stay away from the main city of Dehera dun a little walk from the tons river.

Shaheen bagh was lovingly made by an artist as his home, and that shows in every little detail, ever piece of furniture, the paintings and the bird prints on the walls, the bookshelves, the plants, the lamps, the doors, the painted wardrobes and cabinets, it is place that would be loved by a certain kind of traveler only.
It is not 5 star luxury, and it is not for the mall loving shoppers, or people who would prefer the hustle and bustle of Mussoori (we have had people asking us what we see in the property!!!). But it is a beautiful place if you like to relax, read, or just go for picnics next to the river with your kids.

The location: It is quite out of the way (a single lane hilly road which is quite lonely) and best reached during day light . We lost our way in the dark, but the owners Sandhya, and Arun Gupta were very helpful and sent a car to escort us to the property. Otherwise the location is very beautiful ...a 5 minute walk from the Tons river....with a beautiful view of Mussoori from the terrace.

The rooms are beautifully done up, but need better maintenance and cleaning. The Blue rooms stinks a bit....and the Green room and Pool side rooms can do with better cleaning.
We stayed at the master suite which is very very beautiful with 2 bathrooms, a sunken tub, a living room. A painted island type of sink and shower cabinet.

The staff is very helpful and tries to fulfill every request but they are more like house helps. It is best to go with friends or family as then one can enjoy the home stay atmosphere even more.

This time we were disappointed with the maintenance of the property:

1. The place used to be full of flowers of all colors and variety and was real fun for bird watchers. Now probably due to lack of water we saw less greenery , no flowers at all, and no birds . They said they had cut some trees around the property due to which the birds have stopped coming.

2. There was a lovely waterfall on the property (man made) with little canal running through the flower garden. All that is completely dry now.

3. The pool was not filled with water as they were having some issues with the filtration system.....

4. There were 3 huge dogs running loose on the property ...I am not sure whose dogs these were and the staff said they were not their dogs but the sheer fact that they were running loose made us uncomfortable to leave the kids playing alone on the verandah or in the garden....
This was a bit disappointing but yet we really love the place and will visit it again.

Room Tip: Go for the master suite. Avoid the blue room. The pool side cottage is risky for parents with toddle...
