Chose the hotel because it is very close to walk to Asi Ghat and then easy enough to move along to other ghats. The hotel is on a road that is busy with people, cows and some traffic but did not find this a problem and enjoyed street watching from the balcony. It is also cheap considering the convenient location.

However, whilst we knew it would be basic we did not expect it to be quite so grubby. A double 4th floor room with balcony which had extremely old furniture, a fridge full of mould, basic lighting, a quite unpleasant bathroom. The room itself, including fabrics were so dusty that one could taste it and we think perhaps the room had not been used, or cleaned, for some months. The staff did take the fridge away for cleaning and, after a little persuasion, gave the room a dust and clean.

I would only recommend a stay for young backpackers on a tight budget. It is a pity it is so shabby as some of the staff were very good and the place could easily be improved to give a clearner impression.

self, wife, daughter and aged mother (80 years) checked in at this hotel at 2.00 pm and till 3.30 pm we waited to get the room cleaned. We got the keys at 3.30 pm and entered the room. There was no water either to drink or to wash in the Hotel since 2 days and without any intimation they have registered the booking and handed over keys. Manager informed us at 5.00 pm water will be arranged that to one bucket of water. In between these arrangements, there we saw a snake in the bedroom and really my family was so scared and said we will go back. Finally we had to request the neighbor hotel to get the accommodation which they obliged.

For family not recommended

Well, its cheap. That's all I can say.

The sheets were dingy. The towels were never changed. Its on a busy, noisy street. There were no windows in the room.

The restaurant is uninspired.

This was once a simple but decent hotel in one of the nicest areas of Varanasi (Asi Ghat). It has been under new management for the past two years, and it has deteriorated horribly. My friend and I stayed in one of the "better" rooms. It was if-fy at best, and when my friend was getting up one morning the bed collapsed, and the headboard fell onto the pillow where I was still sleeping and gave me a bad lump on the head. We were moved to an alternative room -- even dirtier than the first one. It was so filthy that there were not only cockroaches -- there were cockroaches IN the bed! It was one of the most miserable experiences of the many years we have spent traveling in India. It seems now to cater primarily to undiscriminating back-packers and uncaring tour directors. Avoid it!
