Pros - 1) while it is still noise - it's probably as quiet as you can get in this city; 2) good location; 3) didn't get sick from hotel food - although it is kind of expensive for the city
Cons - 1) the photo they have is decieving. Rooms are old, with scratchy linen; 2) in the three days I was there they never cleaned the room; 3) there were bugs in my room; 4) the aircon did not work; 5) hotel staff is not that helpful - I suggest when looking for transit options just bargaining yourself as the hotel staff can't be bothered and gives you something way overpriced (same for the Ganges boat ride)

We went in the low season and the hotel was in the middle of a renovation.Despite that,the stuff was very helpful although they didn't smile, they let me choose my room after showing me some and suggested me the better one.The room has been just renovated so it was very clean and the price was very good(1000rupees)!The food at the restaurant was very very good and ''safe" but the service was not quite good.After all,it was good value for money.

The location of the Hotel Haifa is quite good near Assi Ghat at the southern end of Varanasi's Ghats. The first room we had was quite large with a sitting room and a bedroom, however, the sitting room become unbearably smelly after the first use of the shower facilities which connected opposite the bedroom. We could not really use the room and either made a dash for the bedroom or stayed out all together. Sleeping was ok with the windows open. The restaurant downstairs was good although there are some nice options near by that outweigh the fair in the hotel. Varanasi was a place you need to have time outs from...not sure this hotel is perfect but it did the job.

Stayed here for 3 nights as part of a group tour. Would not choose to come back. The room was basic. There were alot of insects in our room which was not pleasant. There was also no hot water at all. The room was not cleaned during our stay and we did not get any clean towels. The bathroom situation was basic but functioning but made everything really wet. The main problem came when it raiined heavily and the rain came in under the balcony door and caused a flood over the floor soaking our bags which was not at all pleasant.
Restaurant was OK though.
