Me and my my husband Fredrick, stayed at the Golden Buddha after 2 crazy days in Varanasi city. we should have stay there only in the first place. The hotel is located in a polluion free area, and close to the Buddhist sites. The restaurant has excellent Lebanese food, a bit slower service though, but we weren't in a rush anyway... The owner's wife is really nice.
Me and some friends stayed at The Golden Buddha in Sarnath, during the teachings of HH Dalai Lama in Dec. Sarnath was very, very crowded and crazy but our hotel was like an oasis when we returned every evening. The food was excellent Medditereanean, much better from the "Indian-chinese-continental" served at most places.
The owner and his wife were great people to chat with.
I'd recommend the dlx rooms upstairs.
