When we went to Varanasi, this is the hotel we got. Outlook is decent.
The hotel is that way not too far from the places you need to go in Varanasi and not to close to chaos of Varanasi.
It was december and Varanasi is pretty cold. We needed hot water to have a bath - the staff really irritated us since they had problem with their boiler and they would commit ... oh it will come now and it will not happen. They would provide hot ... no lukewarm water buckets only after a lot of time and that too with strong insistence.

The hotel is located at a convenient place. However everything else about this hotel is pretty average. The room service is ordinary. The rooms are comfortable. I would recommend this hotel only to single travellers or groups of boys.

My business partner and I checked into a twin room at the Pradeep in Varanasi and upon returning from an excursion to the river my partner noticed that her luggage was arranged differently. Sure enough, upon checking she discovered that her wallet (which she had hidden in her lingery bag) had been opened and currency to the amount of approx 300 Australian dollars (12000 Rupees) had been taken. Upon discussing this matter with the hotel management we learned that staff thought it possible because that day the house keeping crew had worked without supervision. The management offered us a deal, to refund the money, if we would refrain from calling the police (apparently the police would have bashed all the workers). Upon checking out, the hotel did not charge us (6000 Rupees) and we had an undertaking that the remaining money (6000 Rupess) would be transferred to my account. Unfortunately the mony never arrived and a subsequent email to the manager remained unanswered, so we can assume that we have been misled by the management of the Pradeep hotel.

Located on the opposite side of varanasi to the ganges with nothing of interest locally so will need Rickshaw all day. Filthy rooms, insects crawling up the walls, no hot water for the entire stand and the AC didn't work wither owing to a 'power cut' although all other electricals worked fine.
We were given 6 sheets of toilet paper and when i asked for more were given another six. Only one towel between two people. The inclusive continental breakfast was two pieces of toast and a coffee.
Worst of all was the owner 'Pradeep' who we saw threatening his staff and who was equally as rude to us not realising we were guests. After his outburst he hid in his office and refused to come out until he had finished his lunch which would have meant missing our flight. Dreadful dreadful man and very poor hotel. Do avoid it, there are other better places to stay and even if you are happy to 'risk it' you would still have the moral question of whether you want to stay in a hotel owned by someone with so little respect for his staff or guests. Stay somewhere where the staff are not abused
